Liverpool and Newcastle in the CL

How do u think Liverpool and Newcastle will fare in their attempts to qualify for the second round of the Champions League.

Both sides have a lot of work to do in order to reach the 2nd phase.

Basle v Liverpool

Liverpool MUST win away in Basle in order to qualify. If they don't then at least they'll qualify for the UEFA Cup. However Newcastle have a more difficult task.

Newcastle MUST avoid defeat if they are to continue their European adventure in either the Champions League or the UEFA Cup. Realistically they must beat Feyenoord to stand any chance of reaching the 2nd phase, but are reliant on Juventus doing Newcastle a favour by beating Kiev, but Juve are already thru, and have virtually won the group unless they lose by a 6 goal margin, and playing away on a icebound pitch with the match starting at 9:45 pm Ukrainian time is almost certain to favour Kiev. Newcastle could go thru with a draw providing Kiev lose by 2 clear goals, but if Newcastle lose then they will fail even to make the UEFA Cup.

Liverpool through, defenitly.....Newcastle are goin out i think cause Juve will play there reserves against Kiev

Thats what I think will happen, but the Kiev v Juve match will be irrelvant as Newcastle will only draw against Feyenoord.
Liverpool ought to win, but Basle are unbeaten at home in the Cl this season so Liverpool have got a very tough task ahead of them, but I think that they will pull it off though.

i think Liverpool and NewCastle will both go out of the CL and end up in the UEFA Cup.

i dont think Liverpool can win away as Basle - a draw at best is what the Reds will get.

As for NewCastle, although i would love to see them go thru i can't see Kiev losing to Juve as they will play a second string team coz they have virtually won the group.....and Juve don't have the greatest of away records in any case. So without any motivation and an inexperienced Juve lineup its only gonna make matters worse for NewCastle.

Same here.

Dynamo will fight to win in the final game in their home match agianst Juve. As Juve are already through, I think Juve players will put their reserve players in this match.

Liverpool will have a hard time to win it this time.

I very much agree, the Premiership for me is more important to me than the champions League. As for next week in Basle, we should win but it won't be a easy game for the LFC.E-Mail Numerouno

basel has ivan ergic (former perth glory star ) who he scored two goals against juventus!

but i predict that liverpool would win and owen score a heap of goals!!

think Liverpool will beat Basel to squeeze through to the 2nd round but i think that Necastle have made it too hard for themselves to come back go through. Liverpool will make it, Newcastle (sorry to all u Tunes out there!)

nice to see another fan of an english team wanting other english teams to qualify well at least there is 2 of us I think i was the only non Liverpool fan yesterday wanting them to win GO NEWCASTLE
