Limit To Playernames Table?

9-Ball

Youth Team
I've searched on this but can find no definitive answer. Much appreciated if anyone can assist...

I'm building a custom DB with some 700+ new/classic players, in F15.

In order to add the names for the players, it struck me as easier/faster to add all the needed names sequentially to the bottom of the playernames table (in Excel).

The problem I've hit is that on testing, none of the players so far show names in game, i.e. their first/last names are empty. The DB works and I can play actual games using these players, they're just nameless.

So, is there a known limit to the number of values in the playernames table? Can we add any at all? Any other workarounds? It'll take forever to find the individual name values for each player so I'm hopeful someone has a solution/explanation.

I should possibly add that I already tried adding all the custom name values into the dcplayernames table too. That also didn't work. I just cut/paste those values from the playernames table, removing the commentary ID column entries as they aren't present in dcplayernames. Perhaps I did that wrong, if the dcplayernames table works.

I didn't catch this before. If none of your added players have names, you have to be doing something wrong. I've added players to the default db and their names show up.

I add my new players to the players table FYI. I don't screw around with the playernames, dcplayernames, and other tables.

Bangus,

understood, but if you're adding a player who's name is not in the playernames table, you'd have to add it, right? E.G. if you want a player named Mr. Bangus, the only way you're going to get that to show in game (if you're editing the tables in Excel) is to add Mr and Bangus as individual values in the playernames table and then take the value for each into the players table for firstnameID and lastnameID. Or, am I missing another trick?

I may have this working now, as I pm'd. It seems I can incrementally add names to the playernames table till I hit a cut-off on the max value allowed. Not sure what that is yet so I keep editing the players table to raise values on some test players to see where their name disappears, relative to the playernames table value on their name. We'll see where this goes...

All this frustration to try to fast-track adding 700 players. :)

Just a thought, but you could create a second, separate FIFA 15 folder and db for use with just your created teams/players. You could delete playernames of players from all the useless leagues in the game that you'll never play. Maybe that will give you enough space for all your created players' names. I usually have 2-3 different FIFA 15 folders on the go at any one time, depending on the project I'm working on.

Not a bad idea, but I am hoping to merge the current players with these additions. I guess that's a plan b. Making some progress, however. It seems after every edit/regen, I need to go into the Editing screen in-game and reset the DB there for my changes to show up. I guess that might be a known/elementary thing to those of you who've been doing this a long while. It may be the addition of 700 custom names in the playernames table works afterall, so long as I reset the DB when loading in. About to test that. :nape:

You do know you can't have a squads save file in your docs folder, otherwise your game will load/read that when you start up FIFA 15. Or is that what you just discovered?

Just discovered that, albeit via the Reset Squads option. I had assumed that it would read from the edited and regenerated DB, via DB Master and then the i68 tool. :|

Something learned, at least.

The problem was identified, you need to read the thread if you want the fix.

okt,

what same problem exactly? If you read the thread you'll notice that I have it working where I'm adding hundreds of values to playernames and players but had to click the Reset Squads option in the game's options menu. Then my custom roster works in-game. If your problem is other than that then you may want to post details here or in the main forum.
