Let's "feel" the player we're controlling

In FIFA all players are the same. If in attack you have Henry and......Heskey :D it'll make no difference when you switch between them. Same ball control (crappy), same speed, same everything.
Now, take PES for example... I have Vieri and Ronaldo in attack. While with Ronaldo i sprint and dribble all the time, when i recieve the pass with Vieri, i usually pass it ASAP because if i try to sprint i lose the ball to the quicker defenders. Also, Vieri's passes aren't as accurate as Pires' passes. Pires almost always gives really good passes, whereas when Vieri is passing there's a 50%(i'm exagerating) chance he might give the ball to the opposition.
You can feel if you're controlling a world class technical player, or a 17 year old 15th division player who can hardly trap a ball...that's what i want to see... not 150,000 players who are ALL the same...

That's a great posting, I feel exactly the same way- that's why I play PES 3 mostly, and FIFA 2004 rarely! Will EA listen though...?

ha ha... 15 division:rofl:

I agree. Theres no point in having liscenses if the players all feal the same.

I mean you might as well have someone named tristiano chonaldi if the player is not going to play like he really is.

Which eventually brings me back to,

I hope they have specific moves in the game so we can see ronaldos magnificent stepovers(H)

well i euro 2004 it seems that the higher the point the more accurate du to the scripts in the game

Totaly agree ... I think the licenses makes ea less motivated while konami gotta compensate that with other features and beter gameplay. It's a bit ironic that you can feel what player you control in the konami game much beter since ea got all the licenses ..

Let's "feel" the player we're controlling

yeah, the game should have a virual ass, it's like an ass that you put on your desk and it has electrodes in it and it is plugged into your computer, when you select a player they make the ass more firm or less firm so you have a realistic feel

I 100% agree. The player attributes in PES are very in-depth and accurate, but not only that but Konami even model players' with their real life counter-part animations for what makes that star player unique, like the way Beckham takes a freekick or the great run up Roberto Carlos takes, even the way certain players' run and the animations they have when shooting, dribbling with the ball, etc. Great stuff.

I hope EA can make FIFA 2005 the same, the previews are great so far. :)

NK.

In FIFA 2003 there where different freekick animations for Beckham and Roberto Carlos, but for FIFA 2004 they took it out again:kader: .

In the ONE-HOUR preview (of an advanced alpha version, which was going beta on the same day), you could really notice the difference between the player's speeds...
I did not like the previous FIFA, and that was one of the main reasons which made me not like and buy FIFA the previous versions.
But this year they've improved on that, so that's a good point to make me buy the game.

That is true as well. I've complained about it a lot of times on these boards, and I've even tried to take those animations from FIFA 2003 to 2004... but never been successful at it.
Hope this year they do something about it.

I think individuality is especially important for keepers. All the keepers in FIFA 2004 basically play the same. I'd like to be able to tell the difference between, say, Buffon, who is mostly a shot stopper, and Barthez, who always comes flying off his line.

As for the missing Beckham/Roberto Carlos animations, that's a result of my "glacier" theory of FIFA: two steps forward, one step back.

Yeah that would be fine with keepers, i also hope they make it so, they can get injured or get bookings 'cuz really i didn't really see a need on having more than 1 keeper per team, there was no reason to change.

Brondbyfan

True true. Apart from fatigue, which was never a serious problem, no reason to have two keepers. I've seen keepers give away penalties but never be booked or injured. And who wouldn't like to recreate Barthez's red-card winning tackle from the UEFA Cup final?

El Diablo Rojo

Yeah on FIFA 2004 i've seen in some Bundesliga team the keeper was set to kick penalties, which was strange 'cuz you couldn't get keepers to do that, which they should change anyway, they should be able to kick penalties, free kicks or corner kicks if you wanted to, you could in previous versions, for example FIFA 99, you could set order for the first five penalties on there even.
