less frantic more realistic gameplay

i dont actually own pes2 yet but i have played it and i have some ideas for achieving more realism. in the evo - web review i have read that the defences play deeper in this game in comparison to ww6 and pes resulting in more frantic gameplay with less emphasis in the struggle for control of the midfield. this could be fixed by editing the tactics for all the teams in order for their defences to play further up the field.
in regard to the player attributes i would reccomend firstly editing the players according to their championship manager counterparts, [ i will be posting a convertion table as soon as i finalize it] and then universaly redusing some attributes for all the players to make it slower and more difficult.
for the player rosters, i have an idea but sadly it is useful only for those of you with 2 memory cards. basically you could make an option file with all the updated club rosters on one memory card and another on the second memory card for the national teams. in fact what angers me the most is that since konami did not bother to include a worthy editor they couldn't at least enable us to save any number of option files on one meory card.

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any means by which we can edit the formations of the AI teams.

Editing the player attributes definitely has a marked effect. I've been experimenting with altering various attributes and have now found a balance which I find makes the game much more satisfying at a more realistic pace. It's important to reduce the speed of most players but also reduce some skills of some players.

I've got 2 memory cards and already intended to do exactly what you describe - create one opton file with national teams and another with club sides - but I intend to create brand new national teams by converting all the club sides so that I can play with weaker nations like the Faroe Islands and Estonia and create some sort of 32 nation European Championship. It is indeed a real bummer than you can only have one option file per memory card.

Editing the computer operated teams formation is easy, at least for single matches. Again i'm afraid, you need to have to controllers to do it. all you have to do is change the symbol of the opposing team at the controller selection screen to the one with a little man in the goalposts. also if you already have edited formations for all the teams saved in the formation data manager it should spare you the effort and auto-load them, although you can still edit them any way you want:)
