DiCaprio's performance this year is, in my opinion, the weakest and easiest of the best actor nominees. Ejiofor, McConaughey and Dern all put in performances that easily would have won in recent years and are unlucky to be up against each other, and even Bale was very impressive due to the fact his role was so against type for him and very difficult to play.

Who do you think will win best actress? I'm rooting for Amy, but Blanchett has won everything so far. Also I'm sure Lupita Nyong'o will win. And the Actor in a supporting role award could go to any of them but Jonah Hill.

Finally watched Anchorman 2. I think it was disappointing overall. I mean it had its moments, but for the most part it seems like they were trying too hard at forcing humor when it could have maybe been more about the story. Ehh. I need to watch American Hustle soon.

Forced humour in a Will Ferrell movie!!? No way.

1. Lupita Nyong'o
2. Meryll Streep
3. Amy Adams

I haven't seen the other nominees, but that's what I think will happen. When I came out of American Hustle I was very impressed with the female cast and thought they were brilliant. After watching August the next day, I think Meryll Streep did a better job. I wouldn't have a problem with any of them winning, especially since I feel like Lupita will win moreso because of the type of role she played rather than her performance per se, but she did do a great job and 12 Years a Slave should be sweeping everything.

Fassbender is the only supporting actor I saw that merited an award, but I think I only saw him and Cooper, anyway.

Lupita is a suporting actress, not leading. And I guess I should watch August, I think it didn't even hit the cinemas here. Leto did a great, great job too.

Is Lupita supporting? Oh right, she's up against Lawrence and Roberts. That's tougher actually, because Lawrence and Renner made the film much better when they got involved while Roberts was practically a lead role and both did a great job. I still think Lupita will win it, but it's a shame for the other two. I don't like Roberts but she did a good job.

I think Adams will get it on the night, because the academy wont be able to give a lot of other awards to American Hustle and because she follows in the Jennifer Lawrence tradition of young hollywood sweetheart.

Predictions:

12 Years
Ejiofor
Adams
Leto
Nyong;o
McQueen

What I personally would like:

12 Years
Dern
Adams
Abdi
Nyongo
McQueen

I dont want Leto to win in particular because that kind of drag performance is so common and he was not so integral to the film, Abdi on the other hand brought a poor Somalian pirate to life in a way I really havent seen before.

Also I have a MASSIVE desire to sleep with Nyongo.

EDIT: Dallas Buyers Club was a good film but it a very strong oscars year it is not one of my "top films", neither is Gravity or Wolf of Wall Street. The real class acts were 12 Years, American Hustle and Nebraska.

I like that tbh.

I agree with that part, he really makes it look totally natural, it's like he was not acting at all.

Hahahaha (H) These are the kind of comments that keep making me come back to the forums.

I think this is a bit of a transition year where those oscar stalwarts finally get displaced - I dont think Streep will win this time, despite a great performance, or Dench, and Tom Hanks wasnt even nominated. The problem for Abdi is being in the same year as Nyongo - the academy will love giving it to one African unknown, but two?

And yeah, I have had many fantasies about her and me, sweltering heat, in a bamboo hut...

The Wall of Wolf Street - OK, the film was dexent and had I not been conparing it mentally with the others I might have liked it more but I really don't get what th fuss is about. It's easily the worst of the ones I've seen and neither Leo nor Jonah deserve an Oscar for tbeir roles. It was just too long, every scene needed 30 seconds to a minute dhaved off. It's probably the least memorable Scorcese or Di Caprio films in recent history.

When are the Oscars? Wanna dee if I manage to see Nebrasa and Hee.

Oh, boo, I was hoping to watch Nebraska and Her before the ceremony so I can be well-informed when I criticise the winners.

Nebraska - Fun and warm film. The cast is impressive but what I loved the most was the screenplay, original and enthralling.
