It is definately a book which you have to read, you will not believe the depth and intricacy of it, it will become part of your life as you become more and more engrossed and when you finally finish you'll feel the crushing pain of having just been dumped from a fantastic and highly sexual relationship. It's a rollercoaster, it's a thrill, it'll take years off your life - basically like crack, but its definately something you dont what to have lived a life devoid of.

It's very engrossing and goes really quickly but I still think it'll take you a good three or four months. I would definately recommend reading the three books back to back, rather than taking breaks in between, if you want the full intense experience.

cool, cool. I feel that I'm now more inspired and prepared to tackle this colossal undertaking.

been watching a lot of movies lately, will try to keep up with this thread in the future (Y)

yesterday I had the opportunity to finally watch a masterpiece called Raging Bull, which IMHO is the best boxing movie ever.
De Niro has been my favourite actor for a long time so it was a shock for me to realize the time I've spent without watching this movie :| it's definitely one of the finest RDN performances.

on another note, tonight it was Anchorman's turn...it's scheidt, ridiculous has a limit.

You ever seen a movie called Body and Soul? I havent, but apparantly it's another boxing masterpiece and it came first, Scorsese borrowed heavily from it when making Raging Bull, apparantly, and cites it as one of his favourite films.

Rise of the Silver Surfer - A little better than the first one but still nothing special (accept Alba) still boring. 5/10.

Yeah, I'm gonna try to pick up a copy next time I'm in a DVD store. It scores an 8 on IMDB which, for a smaller less well known film like this, means it must be pretty special.

Also have you seen Killer's Kiss? Early Kubrick boxing movie, not that special but a fascinating glimpse at Kubrick's development as a filmmaker. I think its his earliest film commercially available on DVD. Another good boxing movie is The Harder they Fall, with the god that is Humphrey Bogart. Not as focused on the actual sport but more on the sleaze of management and promotion, not the best Bogart movie but still pretty good.

Watched Four Rooms and Donnie Darko a few days ago. Both are great movies IMO. I always wanted to see Donnie Darko a 2nd time after I'd seen it at the cinema.

You should see Somebody Up There Likes Me. Probably not as good as Raging Bull, but that's where all such movies come from.

I just saw Bean. It wasn't the classic Mr Bean I was hoping for but it was worth a few good chuckles. Problem is that Bean's made for tele, not cinema.

Haven't seen the original but this one was at least fun. Story wasn't that good but the filming and all was at least nice, especially the moments when he exposes his feelings to the camera for a specific moment of the action. I liked it.
