Watched Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels again (Y) It's obviously one of my favourite films, I rate it higher than Snatch without any doubts.

Been watching some DVDs over the last few days..... Godfather 1 and 2 (seen before, obviously, though not in ages), Silence of the Lambs, Donnie Darko, Sin City.... loving all of them (though given the hype I expected more Alba in the last one :().

Little Caesar... what a classic... the movie that started the mob genre we know and love. Edward G. Robinson on absolutely top form, already one of my favourite actors, now right up near the top. Alright, it's a bit ropey, far too short and the storyline very basic, but it's such a classic, and such a great thing to watch, responsible for everything from The Godfather to Chief Wiggum. First time I've ever seen it and it was a privilage!

Saw III, surprisingly good, the best of the legacy. I liked Saw I, I hated Saw II, but this one is better than the other two together, imo.

See that confuses me, i watched Saw II for the first time this week, and i really liked it.

I thought the characters were awful and too stereotypical, but

SPOILER

I thought the idea that the game was already "up" and all Detective Matthews had to do was sit there until his kid was released, was brilliantly inventive.

Well, then you will love Saw III. One thing I love about the Saw legacy is the plot-twists it has, that are f*cking inventive...at the middle of the movie we try to discover what the Jigsaw is doing, and he surprises us once again.

Saw IV in the making btw...

watched The Queen today, very well done although the theme is rather boring.

Helen Mirren is amazing.

The monarchy must not be too pleased with this film. It gives the impression they're all a bunch of old fashioned morons that do nothing but hunting and drinking tea.

She's about as English as English can be.
Her birth name is Yelena Vasil'yevna Mironova. Her grandfather was a Tsarist aristocrat who was in London negotiating an arms deal for the World War I when the 1917 Russian Revolution stranded him there. His wife and son (Helen's father) joined him in London.

The Dirty Dozen. The comic part has just spoiled the movie, it wasn't necessary at all. Without the comic part it would have been much better. 6.5/10

The Tsar was George's cousin, man. See? We're all a bunch of foreigners.

I hate that movie, such a sickening vanity project. Overblown, overlong, and generally insignificant with mundane performances by poorly chosen actors - Hopkins is totally out of place as such a doddery character and Freeman looks totally disinterested, as if he's just doing it because he felt he should. Speilburg can be very, very good, but he can also be very, very bad. I site Artificial Intelligence, War of the Worlds, Minority Report and The Terminal as exhibits B, C, D and E.
