Larsson to the EPL?

Senior Squad
Celtic striker Henrik Larsson will consider a move to the Premiership when he leaves Scotland at the end of the season, according to his agent Rob Jansen.

The former Sweden international has been linked with a number of top clubs across Europe after confirming his decision to leave Parkhead at the end of this season when his current deal expires.

Jansen told BBC Sport Online: "Henrik will finish his career in Scotland with Celtic at the end of this season. He will not leave Celtic in January and will stay at the club until the end of the season. Of course, he will consider offers from the Premiership if they come in then."

Larsson joined the Hoops in 1997 from Feyenoord for just £650,000 under then boss, Wim Jansen.

But he has ensured legendary status among Hoops' fans with his phenomenal goal tally which earned him the coveted UEFA Golden Shoe award in 2001.

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill is hoping he can still persuade the player to remain at the club but Larsson has remained adamant he will leave this summer.

With respect to the Magnificent 7, I think Arsenal may be looking for a long term replacement for Bergkamp. By the time next season starts Larsson will be one month away from his 33rd birthday.

The best odds right now are on him finishing his career with Celtic in the summer, then moving back to his home Sweden and playing a few more years in that league until he retires. Having said that I can see why any Premiership team would be interested in him, however I think that is probably just as likely as him changing his mind and staying with Celtic.

If the like of ManU, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool are interested, it may be in adding his experience to the club for a European title quest. Most other teams would probably only sign him as a temporary cog to fuel their further successes within the league and perhaps qualify for Europe. He isn't a player to build a team around anymore though because of his age. I would not see him signing any deal over 3 years if he were to join the EPL.

The Sun and other papers say that Newcastle are interested but Larsson's agent says he wont be moving until the summer.
