Since March of this year i've been trying to create all of the teams... I went through my desktop crashing, to my laptop crashing (still dead at the moment)... countless times did I loose all of my work cause i didn't know how to back it up... MANY times i would mess up a team entirely and for good cause i didn't understand one of the errors i was getting in Creation center and tournament master.
So i've started over a lot.
At first I didn't know how to make logos, banners, I certainly didn't know how to make kits. it wasn't until June that I actually got rolling in the right direction... I downloaded Paint Express and made every logo and banner I needed (mostly while watching the world cup matches.... fun fun). I finally edited the database to get the leagues and teams set up right and slowly created the players and got the attributes right... Now in December i've just begun playing the actual tournament. I set it up on the microsoft works pages... I developed a rankings system to use, set up Works Calender with the dates of the tournaments and have just begun playing.
My tournaments began in August of 2006 just after the world cup. I've been playing Euro Qualifying, just completed the UNCAF Nations cup and the Caribbean cup is still in it's first round of group stage qualifying.
The Euro qualifying is about half way done, I set it up differently than they did in real life... I sort of regret doing it a different way but i'll convert back to UEFA's method for the Euro 2012. France is playing very well, haven't lost a game... Greece is doing terrible, they dropped to around 75th in my rankings (near wales) due to a terrible performance against San Marino AFTER I got my gameplay working right. It's the only truely shocking result that i've gotten out of the 20-25 games that i've played since fixing my gameplay the last time... the rest were very close to realistic.
the UNCAF nations cup saw Honduras crowned champions, Panama played well and didn't give up a point until the final. Costa Rica wen't out in the first round loosing out to Guatemala and Panama.
Caribbean cup is going well, no major surprises yet but i'm 3 games into qualifying. and again i set it up differently.
I went into so much detail cause I kinda enjoy talkin about how it's all going. Honestly I waited so long to get everything set up, to finally have the kits, banners, logos, gameplay, everything working like it should... it's quite exciting. I also wanted to try to fill in the blanks about exactly how I do it. I do put a lot of work into it... but once you set up things like the rankings and fixture lists and tables, pretty much all you have to do is fill in the results and the spreadsheet or database will do the rest.
I still have a long way to go... many teams don't have proper skin tones... some teams still have blank names for their rosters... but all of the teams attributes and assets are set up and ready so I can at least begin playing with them.
