Keyboard Configuration Question

I have my PC keyboard set to where Q triggers run/ S is a Short Pass/ S is switch player/ W is sprint/ E is thru ball/ A is Lob/ D is shoot, etc

For the life of me I am unable to do through chips (supposedly, Q + A), ground or finesse shots (Q + D), early crosses or the like.

I am also unable to change tactics in game.

Can someone explain what I am doing wrong with my config and why the controls dont work.

I read in a post that the above should work but it assumes Q is the switch button, etc. Is this the issue?

My question was, do I HAVE to have this particular keyboard config to access these controls?

no, but the point is q + d isnt a chip shot, z + d is the chip shot.

just like on a controller L2 + O is a chip shot.

you can make the keys anyway you like, but no matter how you set them
the chip shot will always be the dummy/cancel button + shoot.

What then would be an early cross or ground shot from a free kick or corner?
