He's a central midfielder, with pretty good technique and vision, a helluva shot and great passing ability. Elegant. (Y)

more great news

tiago is a proven class act, but i'm more excited about almiron to be honest, i think he has more improvement left in him

this is such an exciting time, it was so hard watching all those players leave last summer, elements of them will never be replaced, but now it's great to be getting in all this fresh talent

it will take time for the team to gel, but i think there is no doubt juve will have a championship winning team on paper come season's start

Tiago si presenta: "Chiamatemi 'lavatrice' "
22 06 2007
In Francia mi chiamavano 'lavatrice' perchè ripulisco i palloni sporchi e li rielaboro in puliti. Un messaggio ai tifosi? Sono certo che lotteremo per lo scudetto"

--------------------------

Tiago basically says he can play behind or on the right of midfield. He sees himself as a classic number 8, even though he will play with number 30 at Juve. In France they call him a ''washing machine'' because he intercepts dirty balls and makes the play go on clean? ''A message to the fans? I'm sure we will fight for the scudetto''

Kinda odd he will wear number 30. Legrottaglie won't be amused! :p

Sorry man, but I dont think so. Currently on par with Fiorentina or there somewhere.

However, nobody really rated Man Utd for the EPL last season, so we never know!

inter and possibly milan are a step above juve right now, but after that....

i'm not saying juve are going to win the title first time up, i'm staying starting XI on paper, taking each player individually, it's good enough to match anyone

fiorentina were the third best team in serie a last season, so i'd class the third best team as a title contender (although this season toni will leave a gaping hole)

Juve Chase €25 Million Mario Gomez
Juventus look set to go on a spending spree, and target number one appears to be Stuttgart’s Mario Gomez.

The ‘Old Lady’ of Italian football is on the way up again after their return to Serie A. A €101 million windfall from the stock exchange means that Juventus will have plenty of cash to spend - more than they initially thought - as they try to plot their return to glory.

Top of their list of new players is a striker because of the imminent departure of David Trezeguet for either Lyon or Valencia. The Juve management have signed Iaquinta, but need one more striker, and have been keeping tabs on Stuttgart’s Mario Gomez for months.

The striker has a very good reputation in Italy and is seen as one of Giovanni Trapattoni’s discoveries. Proof of his popularity is demonstrated by the fact that a video-stream of his best goals is shown on the homepage of the sports paper ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’.

Italian fans may be getting a sneak preview of what is to come.
Gomez himself is defensive about the current rumours: “I am a player for VfB Stuttgart. I’ve said that often enough. My advisor deals with everything else."

Stuttgart manager Horst Heldt has been quoted in an Italian newspaper as joking “Gomez is staying with us- unless we got an offer of €25 million.”
Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli appears ready to offer Stuttgart exactly that price to get his man.

Manager Horst Heldt has responded by saying “I have heard of the rumours. But for us it is clear, we will not let Mario leave. It would send out the wrong signals to the rest of the team.”

denied.

anyway, we have some people in Spain to close to Milito deal...very close but if we lose out on him we're going for Garay, Pepe and Barzagli.

Milan supposedly offered €17m but Tiago wanted first team football :(

Best Juve signing by far, so far.

Bettega's contract hasn't been renewed.

He did a lot for this transfer session and I really hope we get a good replacement.

Thanks Bobby! :rockman:

Pfft, too bad it had to go like this. Let's hope they will just hire someone who knows how to run a club with good football knowledge. Not just a big name (like Tardelli).

Grazie Bettega

And now for the team... What are the standings on new defenders? This would be a pretty sweeettt line-up... I also like how there seems to be a good chance Trez will extend and stay.

Buffon
Grygera Barzagli Milito Chiellini
Zanetti
Tiago Almiron
Nedved
Trezeguet Del Piero

I put Barzagli in, but you might aswell move Grygera there and put Zebina in... I'm not so thrilled with the options currently on the market (besides Milito).
