playing against level 5 in we6 is getting more and more on my nerves. since i play more against some friends than against the cpu, i still love we6.
these things suck most:

- the cpu always catches up when you all alone and trying to get some distance tween you and the defender, you dont have the chance to run away anymore which sucks, usually the cpu grabs your jersey and fouls you on a breakaway, no yellow card of course!

- in general the referee is so damn biased in favor of the cpu side it is ridiculous, sometimes i get yellow cards for a foul in the air and the cpu never!

- the cpu wins 90% of the headers (especially after corners) which is so annoying, fortunately the cpu scores only 20% of its headers on goal

- you hardly get around cpu defenders using some dribblings, it is too difficult even with Zidane, Denilson etc.

- in general you have way too little time to act on the pitch which sucks since the cpu is coming for you all the time like it's on shrooms or something no matter which minute it is

there are even more things which MUST be sorted out or improved that are annoying i just cant think of right now.
well, i just dont wanna play we6 alone anymore cos it just doesnt appeal to me for about 1 month now.
playing against some humans is still fun and realistic but against level 5 cpu unfortunately NOT.

I thought like you for a while ago

When you dribble you must change between normal dribble, slow (L1), middle fast (L2), and the fastest( R1)

For a example especially when I got no defenders behind me. I first press L1 to slow down closing in to one defender ,then when close enough press R2 in either / or \ direction of the defender to burst past the him.

Extremly effective...

Like i said dribbling in WE6 is about combinating normal, L1, R2, and R1 dribble.

Even when you have no defenders ahead of you, switch between R2, and R1.

I dont like the fact that defenders cheats pace and that the ref AI is completely useless, but the dribbling idea in itself is well done imo.

And just dont try to dribble the likes of Hamman, Thuram and
Nesta etc :D

There is a problem with the CPU cheating by fouling you and sometimes the ref doesn't even give the free-kick - often, it should be a red card.

Agreed, the refereeing is utter crap at times. I wish they would give the option to have fair referees.

There are certainly times when it feels like there is nothing you can do to defend some corners.

One thing I often do is actually aim my header back towards my own goal when trying to defend a corner. I seem to win more headers this way, and if I win the header, it heads it the oppposite direction anyway.

- you hardly get around cpu defenders using some dribblings, it is too difficult even with Zidane, Denilson etc.

In my opinion, this is fine on level 5. It's supposed to be extremely hard.

The 2 things I get annoyed with most, apart from the crap referees:

1) The way you still can't control your player all the time...what a f*cking joke.

2) The shocking player selection - it nearly always selects the player you want to control on the 3rd attempt. There are times when the ball is rolling right past your guy and you can't even get control of him - it just keeps flicking control between some guys on the other side of the pitch. At times, it's utterly atrocious.

Selecting players...

When playing defense, I like to cut off passes by tackling.
I'd anticipate where the CPU would pass and cut it off with a tackle. It feels pretty good when you do it right, just like how you feel when you block a shot in basketball.

The probelm is...
I'd perfectly anticipate a pass and have one of my defenders ready to tackle the pass, but ALL OF SUDDEN I will loose control of that player and the computer would switch it to someone else. -_-

I just hate this, why can't we have control of a player as long as we want?? I mean as long as the player is in the same screen as where the ball is being played, we should be able to have controll of that one player until we decide to change.

You need to switch to manual player selection. This way, you have "control" of a player for as long as you want, until you choose to switch to another player. It sounds great, but it introduces new problems, not least of which is the one I mentioned above where when you try to switch player, it has a remarkable capacity for giving you control of a guy who is clearly not anywhere near the ball .

Has anyone else stuck with automatic player switching?

I've been using that since ISSPE and it's become second nature now that player switching isn't really a problem for me or my friends (even in 2 on 2 matches) - in fact I find, personally, manual switching f@cks me up because you end up having to cycle through players.

Just my opinion. Don't shoot me.

TOTALLY agree about the refs though! Jesus the number of times I have wanted to plug in a light gun into controller port 2 and shoot the referee after the non-yellow card call just because the guy pushed me and didn't use his feet. Drives me nuts.

*THE SPASM* also pisses me off, though thankfully it doesn't happen 'too' often - but still, shouldn't be there at all really. Controler throwing moments created by that thing.

MrX,

Stick with it bud, trust me in time Level 5 will pan out for you. I've won the WC on level 5 with Wales & the USA, and am now doing pretty damn well in the IL with Wales - it's all about posession football on Level 5, and even then, with practice you can still take players on & pull off some mazy dribbles. I've never had a problem with headers either & my choice midfields are either Savage, Davies, Robinson & Speed or Reyna, Beasley, Stewart & O'Brien (yeah baby!) with the US.

I wish Canada were in the game......

Everything you guys have said is absolutely true.

I use manual control and do sometimes find it hard to get the player I want. Surely it should just pick the player closest to the ball!?!?!? Why then does it choose to change to a player that isn't even facing the right way!!!

When you are through on goal and get pulled down from behind is quite annoying as well but I think this is the only way they have found to make it harder. I think they need to have a look at redeveloping the A.I. I think the reason that you can't completly control your player all the time is that they couldn't get the game running properly if you could!

I have been playing master league on Extreme level for a while now and have managed to get to the first division. Its a bit of a struggle but once you have a few good players you are ok.

Anyway, still a superb game. Everyone is getting better so heres hoping for some of the improvements in the next game!

darn it, maybe its just me but I seem to agree with Lavan on almost every post he writes !!;)

I use auto switching and have learned to live with the minor niggles, and never do I concede because of the switching, but I do hate the refs decisions on occasion.
