now let me say this, i've realized that this is a quality game, you just have to be willing to give easports a chance.
this game is not, as a lot of people say, just an updated version of fifa 2000. there are many things that are improved here, and if you play it on slow, it's very realistic.
first of all:
-this game is harder, much harder, fifa2k was a joke, because it was no challenge at
all. the scores are now much more realistic and lower.
-one of the most annoying aspects of the game, automatic tackles has been eliminated. you can no longer press d and expect to get the ball.
-the pitch is still small, ok, but in training it looks pretty big. needs to be improved.
-great graphics, aside from the player faces, with all the background scenarios, etc. player faces, i would say even if they don't look good, you can tell they're at least trying to make it more realistic, so give them some time.
-LOTS of options, much more than any other in fifa series that i've played.
-weather changes during game. for example it could be raining or snowing at the start, but by halftime it's clear.
-orange ball for snow matches, yes!!! we've been asking for that.
-pitch looks much more realistic for snow matches.
-improved training mode.
-small improvements, such as more realistic start times, realistic weather, and players lining up at the start of matches.
-coverage of other ongoing matches during your match.
-VERY important. realistic football, not preprogrammed like fifa 99, but this ball moves like it's real. it bounces off players, it doesn't stick to players feet, players can lose control of ball when dribbling.
-no more of those endless dribbling moves, hurdle is hard to pull off, very hard to do 2 of those 360 spins in a row.
-ability to score long range goals. i've found out that if you press e + d you can shoot harder and higher for shots from outside the box. more realistic goalie, doesn't save everything comfortably.
-as i said, unpreprogrammed feel, so that you can tackle whenever you want, not just when you're near a player like in fifa 99.
-information on countries, new modes of play.
-accurate portrayal of euro 2000.
-crowd is color of home side, very cool.
basically, that's a very good game. there're some things that need to be improved. add a bigger pitch. also the stadiums don't feel very big, but that's only my opinion. add substitute benches. player sprinting also needs to be fixed i think. players tire too quickly, they can sprint for like 2 yards before they get tired. i know some of you criticize them going too fast, but have you ever seen ryan giggs running down the flank? i KNOW that players don't get tired that fast in real life. just correct the sprinting so that players can actually sprint from the halfway line to the other goal, as in real life. also fix the annoying thing of when the other team has a freekick, and they pass to a guy in the box, he gets the ball and scores a goal and you can't do anything about it. do that and you got a game that's almost perfect.
only worry i have is, will easports stick to this for fifa2001 and improve on it, or was this game only meant for european fans, so they go back to the fifa 2000 format for fifa 2001, that will be bad.
also, try 1st division stars, i think this is a quality game too. with realistic shadows, etc.
