Joe Kinnear's First Official Press Conference

Here's an excerpt:

Joe Kinnear: Which one is Simon Bird [Daily Mirror's north-east football writer]?

Simon Bird: Me.

JK: You're a c**t.

SB: Thank you.

JK: Which one is Hickman [Niall, football writer for the Express]? You are out of order. Absolutely f**king out of order. If you do it again, I am telling you you can f**k off and go to another ground. I will not come and stand for that f**king crap. No f**king way, lies. F**k, you're saying I turned up and they [Newcastle's players] f**ked off.

I don't think I'm the only one who's first reaction was: WTF?

At least for him, he made his feelings known to the fooking press. Shame it'll all backfire, the press is having a field day with his comments.
He could've been more cunning and deceiving, but decided to go all out with the four-letter tirade.
Well, its not something we're used to seeing from the managers so its nice to see different things once in a while. ;)

Good for Joe. About time someone told those scummy parasites who feed off football the score. He's gatting a lot of flak for it but hey, he's only getting flak from the exact same <unts that he put in their place.

The guy has not had one game yet but already they poked fun at him and humiliated him. If I was a Toon fan, I would be proud of him, considering the way that the media have helped the Newcastle United situation go from bad to worse.

These pricks have an overinflated sense of importance. They are nobodies but they think they are the voice of the people. Private education and a comfortable upbringing, and they insist they know how a football fan thinks, as they try and fail to be "one of the lads". Poofs

Well done Joe.

I think maybe it's time that the FA set the bar regarding the reporting of football. When a scum paper like the Sun or the Star or the Mirror, write either lies, innuendoes or just simply take the piss out of a club, I think the FA ( and the Premier League) should ban the press from interviews for a given period.

They are INVITED to press conferences. They are the guests of the club, so if a club wants to say, no more press conferences, then that should be good enough. No more free tickets for the creeps. Make them pay like we have to.

Either that or do what Fergie has done. Let all those scum sucking journo's know that they should never bother to ask for an interview because they will be refused always.

On the one side I agree with the fact that it was good to tell the media what they are.
But I don't think it'll help a lot. Also, I know it's difficult but managers do get paid a lot of money for the job so they should also act accordingly and not say the words c*nt and f*ck 50 times during a press conference.

He's really a bit naive. More than ever he needs the media on his side, and to just piss them off like that is stupid.

He's hitting back at the wrong people. The journalists themselves dont have much to do with it, they write up the stories. alright, but they write them the way their bosses tell them to write'em. That's how it works in Journalism, or you think highly paid professionals who had a course on Journalism and classes on ethics and what the hell would manipulate all the info to their liking to undermine someone they dont even know?

The journalists write what their bosses tell them to write. They're given briefings on what story to cover, on who they're going to talk to and what they're going to ask, and then they're told on how to write the story (they can write it they way they want, but if the company thinks it should be written another way, it will be). That's why you see a journalist say "I didnt write that".

Of course he might, but i dont think he did. His superior (the newspaper editor) did, probably. Newspapers publish what sells, and what sells nowadays, is rubbish. The journalists are just professionals paid to do a job by their newspapers, which are nothing more than companies looking for money who have their own interests aswell.

Sure, there are good journalists and bad journalists. But he's better off hitting out at the companies, not the guys he's going to deal with everyday, trust me, they're the last ones to blame, usually.
