What surprises me is that he finished 3rd for some reason... As good as Henry is, the impact he had wasn't good enough to win anything for Arsenal.

i don't think he should have been 3rd even. As for Henry, he can't do everything on his own.

Nesta was and is better to me, although Maldini's class is 2nd to none ....and Henry did win the FA cup i believe, not sure...as well as the confederations cup with France so that got him some votes...but forget about who finished 2nd and so on...the right man came in first...overwhelmingly also i believe

i'd argue that maldini should have won but..... hey...... nedved had an amazing season too and he would have been second on my list (H)

what i really find funny is those people who last week were saying zidane deserved footballer of the year, and this year are saying maldini shouldn't have even been third because "he didn't do much" :evil:
