YELLOW CARD - Sarcasm
I hope so. If he can get the team spirit hes got going at Middelsbrough, I'd be happy. Hopefully he'll play a style which suits everyone and most of all, I hope hes got the balls to drop the big names. (When its needed)

Not a good choice I think, but England's press may take the blame they bullied away every good choice. Now they're stuck up with a coach that found his team fighting against relegation and was almost sacked.

Can't say I'm disappointed, Scolari was a crap choice, the man can't speak english for god's sake :| And Big Sam...well he was never going to get it.

i like how Brian Barwick says 'Mclaren was my first choice' Yeh B.S!! if he was his first choice why did he try and appoint Scolari!'

Barwick is :sb9:

Well it's an englishmen - so I hope some xenophobic press/fans will stop whining.

I think he's obviously not the best canidate that was available (Hiddink, Hitzfeld) but from those who were left surely it's a good decision.

- he knows already most players/coaching staff/FA staff
- he recently managed it twice with Middlesbrough to "motivate" them enough to make unbelievable comebacks in the UEFA Cup (with 4 strikers on the pitch!) - and England usually will play in Cup Competitions
- don't know how much credit he's worth but with him as number 2, ManUtd won the Treble with attacking freeflowing football

I'm interested to see what he'd do after the world cup.

Will he:

-change the formation
-drop Owen Hargreaves for good
-drop Becks as captain

-left hand side. Downing? Cole

-holding midfield: SCOTT PARKER. Carrick?

good luck with that

well, England wouldve been a better team with Scolari, so as a Brazilian fan Im happy...

I very much doubt it, the man is nothing special. I would so much rather have McClaren as the manager than Scolari. He's already cracked under the pressure of the english media, he'd have never lasted..

Hmmmm....thats an interesting view Slowsilver, I think i'm beggining to warm to the man.

I listened to his statement after he got the appointment, live on TV and i must say, he is very happy with the job. He said that he realises that many England fans will feel aprehensive with him being England manager but, he intends to win over the doubters by a consistant show of good football and good results.

Well if he can do that, then i will be happy. If we dont qualify for Euro 2008, he will be sacked and then we start again.

I did hear that Psycho is gonna be his number 2. Full time or part time i dont know. I guess that means Stuart Pierce will likely be the next England manager after McClaren then.

i was still routing for Peter Taylor :(

Though i think McClaren will surprise people and do a good job.

O'Neill wouldve been the best choice, in my opinion, but there was no way the FA was ever going to appoint a non-English Briton
