Is this the first blow for PES2????

could this be the first big blow for PES2???? this apparently what you have to do to enjoy a ' realistic ' game of pes2 as posted on the ISS/PES2 forum by pes2 fans....

COULD YOU BE ARSED?

Editing PES2 Stats - I Think I've Cracked It

OK, OK, I've been fiddling with PES2 stats for a while, and I think I've worked out the system - how to slow down the gameplay of PES2 to fairly realistic levels, end those unstoppable dribbles and stop defenders standing off your attackers WITHOUT reducing the game to a slog between two bunches of Sunday League amateurs, or upsetting the balance of the teams. AND it brings back the possibility of tense midfield battles, without making it too impossible to score.

Here's the system:

1. DON'T TOUCH GOALKEEPERS. Or, if you can be bothered, just turn down their acceleration by 10 points, so they can't all run out and snatch the ball from Henry's feet. Their other stats should stay as they are.

2. Reduce ALL players' (except goalkeepers') stats by 20 points on the following counts:

Speed
Acceleration
Dribble accuracy
Dribble speed

...but don't touch the other stats. Especially, DON'T edit the stat for Technique. That's what takes the smoothness out of the game and will just give Barca-Real that Hackney Marshes look. Technique does NOT enable those long unchallenged runs. Trust me.

3. INCREASE all attacking players' or free-kick takers' curving stats. A lot. Put them into the high eighties or low nineties -- people like Zidane, Beckham, Carlos etc. should have a curving stat in the high nineties. It won't make it look silly -- we all know that there's way too little curl on shots, free kicks and crosses, and the only way to get it right is to put that stat up very high indeed.

4. This is the key. This is the bit that will solve so many problems we've all had with the game. You musn't just do this, though, you have to do all those other things first.

The "response" stat. It's the key!

Reduce all strikers' and attacking midfielders' response stat by 10 points.

Reduce all full backs', central/defensive midfielders' and wide players' response stat by 5 points.

Leave goalkeepers', and crucially, central defenders' response stats exactly as they are.

***

OBVIOUS TIP: Don't do these things in this order, it would take much longer. Edit the players as you go along

***

It IS a lot of work, but it's so worth it. The game you get in the end is the true PS2 descendant of ISS PE2 - nice and slow, quick when you make it quick, and hard to carve out a chance. Because of the response stat edit, centre backs are far quicker to come out and block off potential long range shots, and now they even beat attackers to loose balls 50% of the time, so no more slipping the low cross to unmarked strikers while opposition defenders run away like idiots. However, because you haven't edited stats for techniqe, shot power/accuracy etc., when you DO get a chance, Raul or Van Nistelrooy still look lethal. And because midfield response times are more even, but defensive response times are (relatively) higher, Zidane can slip past those two midfield cloggers with relative ease, but before he could do it by punting the ball into empty space and outrunning them, then getting to the ball while the centre backs just stood back waiting for the inevitable shot. Now, if he tries that, someone else will attack the loose ball on the edge of the box before he gets there, so closer control is required. Closer control is possible, though - his technique stat is unchanged, but dribble speed is lower, so it all balances perfectly. And, because of the extra curl, it's harder to glide past packed-but-static defences and shoot, but slightly easier to hit an earlier, curling shot and beat them that way.

If you don't believe me, just try it. Take two relatively good teams, edit the stats like this for just the first 11 of each side (takes about 5 minutes at most), and play. Not only will you see how well it works, but when the CPU brings on an (unedited) sub, he'll suddenly be the only man on the pitch playing in the old PES2 way, pulling off impossible bodyswerves and running at 100mph.....and the difference will be clear

i have done it, it makes it from a superb game to an AMAZING game :D (H) Why don't you just stop feeling so insecure about Fifa 2003 and just go and play it instead of trying to keep putting down PES2 to try and make yourself feel better:rolleyes:

Can you edit the stats and then save these stats so that you can swap between the two? Or, can you reset the stats back to the default settings?

Yeah those stat changes make PES2 MORE realistic. PES2 on default settings still pisses all over FIFA mate, sorry to tell you.

Exactly. Even tho people might be disappointed with PES2, FIFA fans want to take advantage of that? PE fans have a higher standard of gameplay than FIFA fans so despite being disappointed with PES2, they won't even talk about FIFA.

I love both of them and I can not say that one is way better than the other ... they simply are different.

I agree with you totally.. And we are not just Fifa flamers, we just want good football games.. If we were just "PES/WE worshippers", then we would not complain about PES 2 at all.. And people complain, because the standard of quality that comes after playing WE 6 is too high for any Fifa's s**t versions..

Cheers

Ahah!! so that is what you are aiming to do? Bust me? why tho? Hehe, that is funny, trying to bust me. What have I done to offend him? Hmm. If I am wrong about something, I apologize to the offended party. I suggest you do the same. And oh yeah, please provide links to where I say "fifa is bas, play iss ..ect" so that you can prove your accusations.

When I said what I said what makes you think I was refering to myself included?? Now, for a lesson in grammar, when I say "THEY won't even talk..." I'm not including myself. Now if I say "WE won't even talk..." Then, I'm including myself and you can ask me why I am talking about FIFA. Do you understand now mate?

Whatever ...
I surely like both games so I didn't take it as an offense ...
I would like that in the futur you stop assuming that everyone in the forum is a little kiddo or a dumb ass teenager and refrain yourself from saying things like "take a cookie" ... that pissed me off, but hey that was the point no?
As for the gramatical lesson ...well you know what I meant ...the idea is moore important than words you use...
As for myself I may have been a little harsh in my first post ...so my apologies

Your apology greatly accepted :). I don't assume everyone in the forum is a little kid or teenager. There are older people that play fifa and there are teenagers that play pes/we. My cookie comment was being sarcastic at your stating the games are different. Yes, ofcourse we both know they are different, they are both the best games in certain aspects. When you play fifa you find things that appeal to you. When you play pes (since you play both), you find other things that appeal to you. The things that appeal to you from both games are not the same, if not, you would be playing one over the other. No need to buy two games. But you, my friend, are where all of us will be some day. Because both of the games sharpen each other because of their competition. Fifa makes Pes get better at name licenses, kits, eventually leagues and so on. Pes makes Fifa better at gameplay, hence the dramatic change in fifa2002 and fifa2003. If one of them falls alseep (fails to be sharpened) the other will take over. In the end, we should all have the two games and enjoy them both (like you do)...if the competition between them continues.

You speak the truth brother ...:D
Anyway I hope both will get better over time ... there 's still plenty of room for improvement and hopefully one day we will get the better of the two in one game !
cheers
