You know what I keep ressurecting threads about Iraq that have no significance to what is going on every day there. So I might as well start a thread about this. As events continue to escalate feel free to post here. Sorry about my most recent ressurection of the pregnant woman death. This is a more generalized thread.

It's only a matter of time before the sectarian violence gets so bad that the US troops there won't be able to do anything (the'll all then move to Lebanon to help enact more homeland security, leaving Iraq in shambles). The writing was long on the wall for civil war anyway, in any time of chaos or uncertainty people always seek safety within their own ethnic and/or religious groups..

There's a war and there's nothing civil about it. Everyone's killing everyone. Not just Shiites vs Sunnis or whatever.

If your boss at work is being a bitch just shoot him and say that you saw him 'collaborating' with American troops. If there's a girl you wanna get with but her dad is a stuckup fag and won't let you get near her, just kill him and tell everyone that he's a Sunni/Shia insurgent. If you feel like starting your own drugs/booze/weapon smuggling business but you're worried that the local militias might be on to you, just give your gang a nice catchy title like "The all-glorious Islamic Jihadist movement for the eradication and ultimate destruction of Shiites and all infidels, Pty Ltd™" and no one will bother ask questions.

There's obviously civil infighting that's been going on for a long time now. But the way the Americans have set up the Iraqi government and all other public institutions, the media will attribute everything that's been happening in the country to the deep rift between the various ethnic and religious groups governing the country. So that any time someone gets killed its dismissed as yet another religiously motivated crime even though it doesn't have to be.

That fake Democrat Joe Lieberman got himself dumped in the Connecticut Democratic primary. He was punished for his stance on Iraq which was almost identical to Bush's, the other candidate was anti-war. Now he's trying to run in the elections as an independent.

Haha, I dunno man, I don't see him winning but actually doing pretty well as an independent...he'd almost be like a George Bush 'Lite', which would probably appeal to moderate Republicans. Still, he's a douche..

I used to be a big fan of Hilary Clinton, but she's been kissing a lot of conservative ass lately. :( I want an ultra-liberal US President so Steven Harper doesn't have any real friends south of the border..

Should be interesting to see how things shape up in the run up to the mid-term elections. Lieberman's defeat would've sent a strong message to other Democrats about how unpopular the Iraq war has become, but if the Democrats react by shifting their policy toooo far to the left, then they risk losing the votes of the "middle ground" which has become disenfranchised with the current administration or maybe still undecided, and ironically people like Lieberman would end up profiting most from this. But Lieberman too could lose many of his traditional supporters if they think he's becoming too chummy with the Republicans. The rumours circulating in the press in the past week said that the president's political adviser, Karl Rove, called up Lieberman and evidently said: "The boss wants to help. Whatever we can do, we will do." I think they're gonna drop out the GOP challenger, and I wouldn't be surprised if they even funded Lieberman's campaign.

As for Hillary Clinton, she'll basically do whatever it takes to get her the votes. At one stage she was pretty much patting Bush on the back over the invasion, then Bush's poll ratings start taking a dip and all of a sudden she's turned her position around 180 degrees, and now her popularity has taken yet another boost after she lambasted Rumsfield at the senate hearing. What can I say, typical politician.
