This is an idea i've had and kicked around for years now. I started it back in '06 but kept abandoning it for my national teams project.

In the past I had ample time to dedicate to national team updating but I'm seeing less and less time and I expect to have very very little from here on. That combined with Robbies national team patch makes me believe that my role on this forum might need to be adjusted a bit.

I think instead of continuing to try to keep up with national team editing in the modern game I'm going to move to classic cups and patches. These never need to be updated, there is a ton of content and it's always been an interest of mine.

I want to focus on World Cups but I may do other cups as well.

My problem is that I'll need a kit maker for minis and full kits. Old kits from the '30s to the 50/60's are very easy to do. It's not til later that most of them get more complicated.

So I'm starting this patch to gauge how much interest there is in an idea like this, if I can find a kit maker, and whether you guys would rather see me dedicate my time to updating modern teams (The one's Robbie hasn't done) or whether you agree that my time might be better spent on classic national team patches.

Please let me know what you think. I'm just conceptualizing.

Yeah we did some in '07. I'm going to convert and rerelease my 1930 and 1934 world cup patches most likely. then start on 1938.

Yes definately. What era? More modern or classic? like 30's? or 70's?

I might skip around in the teams that I do. If you have ktis for Brazil 1970 or something, it'd be worth it to make that team for sure.

So you do want to work on faces then? That'd be a huge help for sure.

I've made a decision that I am going to just use the era specific flag for the logo on my kits. It's not historically accurate but a ton of time can be killed searching for those old out of date badges. I think it's a role best saved for a bit more of a purist than myself.

So I added France 1998 and Italy 1938.

Sometimes to motivate myself I have to make a short tournament for me to play in order to push myself to actually make the teams in the tournament. So I set up a little tournament (pen and paper) for just the world cup champions from history. I started playing it last night but I'm hoping this will nudge me towards making these teams instead of putting it off.

Here's the format:

2 preliminary games:

Uruguay 1930 vs Italy 1938 (4:2)
Italy 1934 vs Uruguay 1950

Then the other 14 teams with these 2 winners play a knockout tournament with two seeded teams Brazil 1970 and Germany 1974.

Brazil 1970 vs Uruguay 1930
Argentina 1986 vs England 1966
Italy 1982 vs Brazil 2002
Brazil 1994 vs West Germany 1954
Italy 2006 vs Brazil 1958
West Germany 1990 vs France 1998
Argentina 1978 vs Brazil 1962
West Germany 1974 vs Italy 1934/Uruguay 1950

I'll post the teams as I make them and maybe updates on how it's going too. it's been kinda fun so far.

Added Uruguay 1950 and Italy 1934. Uruguay 1950 won over Italy '34 4-1

Just added Brazil 1970.

The game vs Uruguay 1930 really frustrated me. Uruguay won on PKs. I think the 2-3-5 formation was really difficult for Brazil to deal with. Uruguay was just bringing pressure all over the field. I thought I could counter on them but even that was very very difficult. It didn't help that Balasterros was having a great game and Jairzinho couldn't finish for some reason. It was an upset but it was fun.
