I thought you could block out in 2006?

I'm pretty sure I remember watching a guy blocking out a defender in the movies a while back. Does anyone remember that??

I was really REALLY hoping that you could do that in this game.. stop.. and block out the defender... keep your back between the defender and the ball. I know I saw it in the movie.. I even think i did it for about half a second in one of the games I played.. but it was so fast and I haven't been able to recreate it since..

I was hoping that's what button 8 did.. the Pace Control/ ?? button..

But all that does is sit there .. FACING THE DEFENDER.. moving very slowly in whatever direction you try to go in.. a useless button..

So has anyone else been able to purposely block out defenders?? Its one of the last things left in FIFA that is ESSENTIAL to Soccer and not easily done in the game.

That .. and the fact that if a team takes a shot and misses.. it STILL reloads everybody to preset positions.. you should just run with the goalie and grab a ball and try to quickly counter attack.. like real life..

Same for corners.. you should be able to get your nearest guy.. or predetermined corner kicker.. and go to the corner spot as fast as possible to take advanatage of numbers.. etc...

If it had those things this game would be a million times better.

But like I said.. at least I thought they had blocking out a defender this year.. I swore I saw it in the video..

Hi Guys, in answer to your question yes you can block i was just playing the demo and i blocked a certain goal bound shot from 8 yards out with my defender, check the screenshots dudes

Are you being serious?

He means can you shield the ball from a defender by turning your back to him and bodying him out. I haven't done it yet, but it seems like the pace control would be the way to do it.

Whenever I use pace control all I manage to do is stop suddenly facing always towards the attacking side.. which is the complete OPPOSITE of what I want it to do.

Basically you move slowly with the ball in front of you just waiting for the defender to take it.. I really was hoping that it would turn the OTHER way .. so that you could keep your back to the defender and block him out.. then maybe you could even use the right analog to sorta fake going one direction, then take off the other way.

I do that move all the time when I play.. lots of players do.. it's integral to an offensive player's arsenal of skills... because in a lot of situations you recieve the ball with your back to the net and a defender flying at you from behind.

I'll try again a little later to see if i can do it... if anyone manages to find out how to do it.. or even accidentally does it.. let me know.

And go ahead and try the "Pace Control" button yourselves.. you'll see it's really pretty much the opposite of what it should be.

Very easy guys. Just push the run button "E". But the important thing is you must not push any of the direction buttons at the same time. Just "E".

Awesome.. it works... good stuff..

I mean it kinda works anyway.. it doesn't always go into a block defender mode when i let go of a direction and hold down sprint.. but most of the time it does..

So it's still good that it has it in there i guess.. in my opinion though the "pace control/walk defender" button .. should really be a block defender button instead.. Dedicated button to it.. yup.. Well that's one thing down..

If they added a few more things to the game it would be nearly complete..
