I cannot play FIFA 2003

I installed FIFA 2003 without any problems, but when I try to start the game, the intor viedo plays, as usual. After the video is done, the game just exits back to the desktop. Another thing; the video doesn't always play but the screen goes black and exits.

I bought my computer about a month ago;
Intel P4 2 GHz
256 MB RAM
54x CDROM
And finally, a thing that I'm a little worried about. The graphic card. Intergrated 64 MB SiS.
Maybe that's the problem?

I would be very pleased with an answer A.S.A.P!*

Me too

:f***:

I have had the same problem but I do not get even that far. The game loads the start up graphic, then NOTHING!! Back to desktop. I have been playing FIFA since 1996. When I got 2002 I played it alot. Loaded the 2003 Demo a while back and since then even my 2002 will not work. Same thing happens. Did everything EA says to do before installing: uninstalled 2002, ran scandisk, ran defrag, ran cleanup, disabled Norton, etc. Installed...nothing.

Anyone have any ideas? My PC is top shelf...Dell Gaming PC. Had not problems with any other EA games (BF1942, MOHAA, etc) but FIFA2003 has given me big problems. 2002 as well. Might be time to retire my acqaintance with EA and FIFA. Tired of this.

Tried that...

Tried that...also upgraded Direct X. Still the same. There is a guy from EA Support working on this. Will post what I fined here.

The big issue is that most "fixes" seem to disable stuff on my computer to make FIFA work....but what will this do to other programs?

I just wish EA would adequately system test their product before releasing it. I have a very common Dell computer using very main stream components. Have not tweaked my machine at all. One would think a stock PC should run an off the shelf game.

EA is running the risk of losing more and more long time FIFA players if they cannot make things work without all this fuss. I will try this for about another day, then they lose me and my money forever....and that is a lot of cash.

FIFA 2003 Problems

I am having problems too - my PC meets the recommended spec of Fifa 2003 and I can install the game fine. I can start the game fine and it will let me go into the game setup screen. I can then create and start any game and it loads without problem.

Once the game has loaded however, I can't play the game as my PC turns itself off and restarts (without going through the usual shut down process).

I know there shouldn't be anything wrong with the PC as I can run every other game through I have (including Fifa 2002) and have reinstalled that game just to make sure, and the problem still occurs. I have managed to run the game at my parents house on their PC so know that there is no problem with the CD ROM.

Answers really would be appreciated as I am itching to play this game (I have every FIFA football game since 1996 also)

What EA has to say...

Have exchanged several long e-mails with EA. They admit that it may be the CD drive not being able to read through the "read protect" on the CD. Basically, they said it was my CD drive (NEC NR-7800A). I have a GForce card with 64mb...that's not it. 1.7Ghz board with a P4...that's not it. Direct X 9.0...passed all tests. That's not it...so they think it is the drive.

Their response? Send the game back to them, they will give me a sealed copy I can return to get my money back....have to do all of this within 90 days of purchase. I sure as Hell am not buying a new hard drive. Funny that other EA games run on it. Funny that Fifa 2002 ran on it until I installed the FIFA 2003 Demo. Funny that other high end games run on that CD drive. I think the FIFA developers are just banging out games to make $$ and not giving a damn about quality...making sure the games runs on most major platforms.

I advise all with problems to return the game to EA. Get your money back and keep playing the last version of FIFA you have that will work. Until we do this EA will not get the message that they cannot keep taking our money without delivering quality!!!

Disappointed....VERY disappointed!! Well, there are other football reality games to buy from other vendors.:f***:

PS2?!?!?

I might as well get another CD drive...it is still cheaper than getting a PS2, or Xbox or other non-PC solution. And in two years when the industry ups the ante on gaming, then I have to scrap my PS2 for the next box. Not worth it!!!

I will stick to PC gaming. I can customize more than on PS and it is in the long run cheaper.

strictly

you will find that it is not cheaper than buying a PS2 if you just wanna play games but there you go... to keep your PC up to date will cost you a lot more than a new console every 3 years, most people will need to update their PC at least every 2 years, and then a new one every 3/4. Most consoles last this amount of time.
