beckham moving to Spain would affect the British tabloids the most. no daily dose of becks-posh spicy stories for them.....
i read in a local newspaper that madrid are going to offe geremi + 14 million pounds for beckham. 14 million is too cheap i think. it should be 20!

I'm not sure for how many people i speak when i say this but..
I lost a hell of a lot of respect for the club I love when they went behind the back of a incredibly loyal player and had talks with someone of no authority and discussing deals. That is highly un-professional and downright shambolick.

Man utd will most probably survive without him, yes. But why undergo that un-necessary struggle?? Surely Becks cudda bin sold 2 seasons ago if Fergie was pissed wit him? It's not like we even need to sell him for money 2 buy other players, as we earn so much and there should be money available.

I'd like to see whether Fergie really is angry with Beckham, but this we don't get to hear.

And all this about Beckham thinking he is bigger than the club? Do you honestly believe such a quiet lad as David would issue demands and order people about. I bet if you went to behind the scenes he's just one of the lads. Its only the "ppl" around him that order him about and have him here and have him there doing x comercials a day. If it was left to him I'm sure he'd not want to upset someone as close as Alex is to him, i mean he has helped him through his career and he shouldn't ruin that relationship by just selling him off???:(

Heres how to solve it:

He plays for Arsenal reserves, gets the call when FJ8 and JP go down.

There, solved.

well what it comes down to is....man united doesnt want him.....and no one can blame Beckham for leaving....if their is any blame it goes to United....not to say they should be blamed ....Fergie makes the decision and can do anything he wants.....we will have to wait till next year to see if they win any trophies to say it will be a good move

I see what you're saying johnnyboy, and I'm disappointed with the way the directors have conducted the business side of things (and here was me thinking that now that Edwards has gone we could have a bit of respect for the club and it's players coming from the boardroom), but then that's just it, it's business and it could be what's best for United because you just can't tell the fact from the fiction in the web that the hacks have woven around this story.

I mean 2 months ago, Becks demands 'Get me out of United'... 2 weeks ago, 'Becks says that he never said he'd finish his career at United'... 2 days ago 'Becks: I'd rather retire than leave United'. Either Beckham needs to sort his thoughts out or the papers need to ease up a tad.

But then there are some things that Beckham has done which might have infuriated Ferguson and left him with little choice:
He continues to court the circus that surrounds him, whether he means to or not and on numerous occasions it's been said that Ferguson has asked him to take a bit more care.
After Stam's book there was a bit hoo-ha in the press over what was said in it. So United say that in the future, while you're a United player if you want to release a book then someone at United must see what's in it first. I've heard that Beckham has broke this rule already.

But, yeah, like you said mate, it's not the sale of Beckham that's disappointing (well, it might be to a degree 'cos he's a United lad and he works hard) but it's the way the board have conducted their business around the issue and the nightmare PR tactics that they have used.

You must remember that most of these player quotes are fixed. Ferguson and United controls very well what is said to the media, most of the time. One moment Becks wants to leave the onter he doesn't. It is a mind game and football is full of them.

Yeah, they've behaved incredibly amateurish about the whole embargo. At the moment, it's only Real Madrid who can afford Beckham. Therefore, Madrid can dictate how much they want to pay Utd for him. At the moment I've heard as low a figure as £22.5m!! They've backed themselves in to a corner, they apparently have to sell him now, but they're options are limited. Surely he creates enough fundage by staying. Not to mention if he goes, they will lose huge merchandise and possibly seat sales.

I've heard people say "yeh, let him go, get rid of the "beckham fans" but at the end of the day, they're the ones who give utd a lot of money. Then they can get a load of new young players to replace beckham..... hmm?? With 22.5m? You won't get too much. Plus, they will need at least one or two seasons to adjust and be anywhere near Dave's effect on the team. Furthermore, he's one of the great youth squad which evolved over the years and I don't know how Paul, Ryan, Phil, Gary and nicky all feel about how the affair is being handled....

Beckham doesn't generate as much income for Man Utd as you think though johnnyboy. Okay, he does generate a fair bit relatively speaking, but most of our income comes from match days, and competition revenue. I guarantee that if United sold Beckham it would not effect seat sales at Old Trafford in the slightest because Manchester United have been playing in front of a packed crowd for decades and when people think about going to watch Man Utd play, the first they think of is not 'wow! you'll see Beckham', they think of Man Utd as a team.

While I agree that the board have been amateurish in the dealing, I don't think they are stupid enough to sell him for as little as £22.5m neither.

Think about it. He's now gone out to the Far East for a while on a promotional tour instead of staying around, sorting out his future and then jetting off around the World. It's doesn't seem like he's got his priorities straight.

I know he's gone to Asia for his tour. But as we know, that is an incredibly huge income for him, which he will need to fund his lifestyle after football.

However, whatever transfer going's on have happened behind his back anyway, so I don't know what he could really do in all of this. Apparently it's not his decision.....

I don't know what he could have done anyway, but there must be something he can do. But what is he going to be able to do in the Far East? Nothing. Besides I don't think people would have minded.in the Far East if he postponed his tour for a fortnight while he sorted out his future.

I would be glad if he did happen to stay at United, no matter how unlikely it looks at the moment. But if he were to leave, I know that he could be replaced.

I'm just waiting for him to go to Asia and for some kid to come up to him with a Barcelona or Real Madrid shirt on with "Beckham 7" on the back, and for him to sign it right in front of the tabloids. The photographic Irony of it
