Frommelgoal
Youth Team
This is mainly for beginning players, since it involves gradually increasing the difficulty of the game. If you always play on 5*, this is not for you
As a PC player, PES3 is my first contact with the series, so by now I'm a fairly experienced newb, playing on 4*.
Anyway, here is my system:
1
I started out doing training exercises and playing a few friendly's on 1*, just to get the hang of the controls. Since you don't get much resistance from the CPU, you'll find yourself sprinting to the goal and scoring lots of goals quite soon.
2
When I was comfortable with the basic controls (passing, shooting, sprint, player switching), I raised the bar to 2* friendly's to get a basic playing level. This is a good level to practise your passing game, as it is not so easy to just only sprint to goal anymore.
3
By now the basic controls were 2nd nature to me, so I started the Master League, with automatic save and no cheating! From now on I use the following rules;
- Div2 = 3* difficulty
- Div1 = 4* difficulty
- Div1 while qualified for one of the WEFA cups = 5* difficulty
NEVER change difficulty halfway through a season, if you feel the level is too hard or too easy! After my 1st promotion to div1, I found it very hard to adapt to 4*, so I lost a lot of games and I was set back to div2. Even though it was a long and tiring first season in div1, I forced myself to hang in there. As a consequence, I got a sense of what it is to be a loser The next year I played div2 on 3* and quite easily won and got promoted again. Right now I'm in div1 on 4* again, and because of the restrictions I layed out for myself, I'm really, really happy when I win matches. Also, I still have a long road in front of me; winning a WEFA-Cup can only be done on 5*! So for me this adds a great deal of longevity and excitement to the game. I'm not even sure whether I will ever win a WEFA-Cup before PES4 comes out!
If you are trying a similar system in ML, please tell me your experiences. I'm always looking for ways to improve my enjoyment of this great game! For example, what do you think of 'accumulated fatigue'? I turned it off, because I heard it affects you more than the CPU, and that struck me as unfair.
