Read all the other posts about this issue, only a few people master headings, the rest of us dont and probably never will.

I ve played over 500 games and I do head, but I never know when, and first timers do not exist for us unknowing folks.

Get your money back and buy an icecream, you will enjoy it more.

i just played a game on the professional level. the players on the team i had, that had a decent rating for heading, seemed to win a fair amount of headers.

*shrugs*

When it comes to running they can think all they want, but wether I choose a one timer, volley or header it should be my decision, I have the freaking pad and should decide what he is going to do next, if he cant perform the header fine, then he misses, but its up to me to try it.

I am tired of players jumping up in the air without me asking them to do it.

I also want to be able to have full control of a player, sometimes when the ball is in the air I cant just run whereever I want.

When it comes to controls this game really sucks.

yes... agreed

I agreed.. lost control in playing professional level.

so far, i still haven't find the solution for heading. Don't even mention to head for goal.

Heading is not so difficult!
while ball coming, press D and choose the direction then release arrow buttons.

Not too bad!

I don't have too much problem with heading although it is a bit more difficult the closer to the opponents goal you get. I played abot 5-6 games last night and had about 5 headers on goal which isn't too bad. It does depend on the positioning of your players though and you can't expect to win the headers all the time or that would be even worse.

Fifa 1999 and 2000 really suffered from you winning too many headers and it was too easy to score from corners because of it even in World Class mode. It was my definite way to score and it sucked. If I was losing I'd try and get a corner rather than bother going for the goal - I certainly don't miss that.

"Oh, it's easy for me hehe...I can do it easily lol..."

SHUT THE HELL UP!

I hate punks like that who are parasites to these boards...taking in ideas and information, while supplying nothing at all in return..

Anyways, I believe the heading of the ball, has to do with the timing...u press the button at a certain point when the ball is in the air. Once you find the time when ur supposed to press the button u want, there's about a 75% chance u will head it. I usually perform the standing header...and I think you basically press the shot, pass, or lob button moments before the ball reaches ur player.

If anyone know what the hell i'm talking about, and can explain it better, feel free...or if i'm completely wrong...

Hey, at least I tried!

its easy to head, and i win them a lot when defending. Hold the power button and direction while the ball is in the air (dont use full power) and let go of the button before the ball reaches you but keep hold of the direction still. This should work.

Hmmmm, I am getting the headers now, its important to get the power bar to half and release the button before the ball reaches the player, directions dont always seem to work but you have to keep direction for the player to head it. I still dont know how to do one timers out of the box, they all seem to want to control the ball first.

My fullbacks only head the ball away about 1 in a 100 tries, those diagonal lobs from the ai always find their target.

Anyone knows how pass an opponent with a sidewinder? The manual doesnt help me much here.

Stuff press the button and win headers 75% of the time. I have played all positions competitively but mainly as a defender. I know that you will not win 100% headers no matter how good you are, so sometimes you may stand off the guy who is favourite and in position to win and you watch where the ball goes. This also goes on in professional football, just watch it. You cannot do it in this game. Your player moves into a stupid position sometimes where he cannot win the ball and he jumps, the oposition has nudged him and now races away one on one with your keeper whilst you now have regained control of your player after the stupid script has finished, he now has no chance of regaining ground. I should be able to position my player, I might want to stand off the attacker and let him win the header as he is too far from goal to worry the keeper, or I might want to stay behind him and just nudge him as he heads the ball. OK, I may give away a free kick, but its more realistic than the frustrating script. I'm glad life isnt a script and as soon as something better comes along I will abandon EA's 6 monthly frustrating failure.
