Horrible - Inconsistent

Right, first off I'm not great at the game. I used to be good at Championship Manager, but I've only got FM06 a month. Right, I'm Man Utd (slag me all you want, I'm that bad), and can't seem to do consistently well with them. No matter what I do, what mentality, creative freedom, formation or player selections - nothing seems to ******* work. It's frustrating ending the second season in a measly 4th. I hold more victories over the bigger teams than they have over me, but I struggle against the Aston Villa's of this world. Scoring is also a problem.

FM06 is like 3x times harder than CM. Strikers dont score 50goals per season each, there are many player injuries, players get tired a lot faster and easier, buying and selling is also harder (with good deals anyway). In general, you should be finding the game like that. just try to improve.

Tune your tactics to every opponent, you have to exploit their weaknesses.

Yea, you have to specialize.

If you get it right you'll hammer them, get it wrong and find yourself overrun.

Seán Denny, maybe if you try smaller teams, to get used to it, coz they don't have such high expectations..you'll probably do better..just an idea though..

Meh, you'd also have ****ty players so that would make it even more difficult...

although 'small' teams seem to do very good in this year's version...i dunno, just pick whatever team you want, you just gotta snatch that extra 'thing' in this FM, when you do that, it's actually not thaat hard..

For me, when I use a consistent lineup (the same players), my team always does decent consistently. But instead, when I rotate too much and try different players, they seem to lose chemistry and my team starts to lose to sh1t teams. IMO too much depth is not good it tempts you to rotate and the team doesnt play well. But Bobby and Cody seem to differ.

I didnt say to rotate, but to tune the tactics, player instructions etc, I generally play the same team whenever possible

oh. I thought you meant to change tactics plus the players.

i played a 4-4-2 with wingers upto amr and aml posistions with manchester united and owned the league and europe in the first two seasons with the only signings being mascherano in the second season and ernesto farias in the first. Didn't do much really. Moved onto a new game with torquay though

I have to disagree with players getting tired a lot. I have players that play 40-50 games a season in all competitions and are still not that tired. BTW speaking of 50 goals Liedson from my Sporting game that just finished has 57 goals in 49 games...

Seán Denny - My advice just keep playing it, you well get a lot better as you play itmore. As others has stated try to alter your tactics a little for reach match. Man marking players, attacking more, defending more, etc.

I also notice that the more seasons you play the easier it gets because you can sign ace regens and stuff...

no, its because the good teams become much weaker coz there arent as many good players. Im one of the very few around here who always play long games and i can tell from that experience. The wrose was proly CM4 (cant remember much from prev versions) and keeps improving in every game. Veeery slowly tho.
