No Holland in the game
I've heard that there will be no Holland in the game. I read it at soccer.gamez.nl yesterday.

Yep, that's right. We contacted EA Sports and they told us they wanted to include Holland, but because of licensing problems they can't give correct rosters, kits, faces etc for the Netherlands, so they decided to not include them. Ofcourse SoccergameZ will make a patch who'll put Holland in the game.
I saw on some screenshots the Equador team is also included, and tyhey didn't qualifie, so there will be some extra teams.

What about Iran? Will they? They were one lousy point away from qualifying. It would anger me if they added the others that didnt qualify and leave out Iran.
what this for problems with licence , we know everybody how it was in fife 2002 , Holland has to be in world cup !!I love this team just who I will play in world cup ?? Will not play only Poland

I'm not opening up a debate if Canada is better than this or that country in football. I think we have an underrated side (but that's another story), but I think the real question here is from EA's perspective if it's worth putting Canada in the game. Is it? I'd say yes... the North American market is a lucrative one for EA Sports.. not to have a team from a major MARKET would be a little silly. In this case the benefit is also better because licensing the Canadian national side probably is relatively cheap.
It's not necessarily a question of having the best TEAMS in the game (beyond the qualified ones), but the ones that will make EA the most money! To put the Dutch side in the game is smart... but not if (as I understand it) it's too costly to get the license.
The Dutch side didn't qualify for the WC.. so it isn't NECESSARY to have them. It's expensive to license them individually, and people wouldn't be happy with a 'no name' dutch team.. so why bother to spend time and money if no one's gonna be happy anyway?
By the way.. I hope Poland kicks some butt at the WC.. I'm half polish and 100% Canadian!

in Canada people won't be buying the game because their country is there dude. it's sold here mostly for all the Italians and Latinos who live here, and who would buy the game. I highly doubt that people who buy this game will be playing with team Canada, instead of France, Brazil, or their country of origin.
it obviously does cost more to licence team Holland than Canada, but the market in Holland is also bigger, and I'd be surprised more copies of WC2k2 were sold in Canada than in Netherlands.
as for hockey, nobody is better than Russia

If it costs $10 to put Canada in and I sell 5 games at $10... I'm making a $40 profit for very little investement. If it costs me $500 to put the Netherlands in who cares if I could sell five times (25) the games... I'd still be losing money.
