Meh, dont even mention tryouts :( HS soccer starts in March, so we had tryouts in February... About 4-5 of the players chosen for JV ( I was in 9th grade but there was no freshman team) soccer could play better than me, the rest were people who were amazingly fast, strong and were skilled physically rather than soccer-wise... They just kicked the ball hoping someone would get to it with no accuracy at all. That's so bull****

I signed up for a fall league, played a lot during my vacation in Poland, now I need to start using my treadmil get better endurance and hopefully I'll make JV in the spring. That's if I stay injury free, coz in the last tryouts I had a back strain from weight lifting and sometimes my feet get so ****ed up after playing I can't walk for a few days coz they hurt like ****... Anyone else has this/knows what to do?

Good luck; if you are tall, strong, and fast you have a pretty good shot at it

What i didnt like about trying about was the group of Mexicans that hang out together during practice. I know i'm Mexican but these guys just piss me off, they're always hitting like it was rugby,.

And it got so rough that i kicked on of the guys' ass, so the coach had to decide, either kick me off the team or kick about 3/4 of his starters off the team, cuz they said if i stayed they would either all jump me or quit the team. So i didnt get to play my last year of HS.

:f***:

Well Kader have you ever lifted weights vigirously before? When people begin to lift weights for the very first time they are exercising muscles that aren't used that much. So that's where the pain usually comes from. Once you get in a strict regimen going the paint will go away easily. When I played HS football, the winter of my freshman year, our strength coaches had us lifting three times a week. That first week I could barely walk. Then after a couple of weeks it all turned out well.

If you have flair use it. Basically use many moves when dribbling and when passing use backheels and flicks. Also try to aim all your shots into the top corners.

Then they might pick you after they pick all the people that are fast and strong but have no skill. This is how American soccer is unfortunately.

Our tryouts are very rigorous! The coach gives you targets, e.g. he goes in goal (he was a former keeper for Crewe) and you get 10 shots from varying ranges. We next tryout passing from all sorts of ranges, including through balls. chipped passes, long passes, one touch passes etc. Next, we all get involved in a 5-a-side to checkout teamwork and overall skills. After all that, the next day, there is a 100m (acceleration) and 400m/800m (pace) and a fitness test. All of these categories are given marks out of 100, and the total is added up, although at out school technical ability is more highly rated than physical ability.

Makes me tired just thinking about it. Glad I did it last year!

our school has a camp this week before tryouts next week. we have this local college coach help us with a lot of technical stuff, improving our touches, and getting us in shape.

I don't even wanna remember my last HS season, IMO it started off great and I was on fire hitting a hat trick, then 2 goals, then 1 goal, then I went two games without a goal then my torch got thrown into a river.... I still remember that I was benched for the last game of the season where we lost in the semi-finals, I was pissed when I finally got into the game and I sucked because my feet were dead from the cold:p I've been working out a lot and running to get ready and I hope I stay hot all season long :rockman:

Though luckily for me I'm in a pretty small school so no matter what I'll always be on the team(H)

My Tryouts were 3 weeks long, 4 days a week.

5 different cuts, they just looked for people with the team mentality, endurance and a football brain. It is good cause no-one is cut without having time to prove themselves.

It's really strong pain whenever my feet touch a surface... I can barely walk, I can't run.

It goes away after a week or two. Then I play soccer. It comes back. It goes away quicker this time... So i re-start playing, it hurts for a while after playing, like 3-4 days, then the cycle is repeated but each time the pain goes away quicker until my feet get used to and I have no pain at all.

See man... the pain in my feet is from playin/running not weight lifting :$
