High Quality FIFA2003 video

i think that if EA finally gets their act together with FIFA they can make a game better than PES, maybe next year or the one after that, just because they have much more resources when it comes to money and the amount of people and stuff like that.

thought the video looked good, very fast, but good. only qualm I have with the game is that the D of the box is way too small, the players look like giants in comparison.

The only reason PESx is brought into any FIFA discussion is to show/tell those of you who are unfortunate enough to have not played Konami's games taht things could be done better. NO ONE has said PES is perfect, all people are saying is FIFA could be better. Having said that, if you guys like FIFA as is, that is your problem. But this is what I'll say, if you have seen better, you will want FIFA to reach (and if possible) surpass other standards. The attitude of FIFA being untouchable, will get you back to how we were for about 3 years. No complaints, they so didn't change the game.

For those who have been around since last year, I remember myself and others coming on this board several times, bashing EA and FIFA to death. When I asked my question on the EA chat Q&A you know what was at the end of the reply?

"..and please continue with the constructive criticism like you have provided us with in the past."

That tells me that someone knows I bash the game, only for it to get better. Now I'm not saying that I single handedly made EA change gameplay. Ha! no no no, I'm saying that if you want things to be better, you have to speak up, if you don't, things will be the same.

If I really didn't care for FIFA, I really wouldn't be here. If I have lost complete hope for FIFA (I have some of my mates who have) I wouldn't waste my time. I have hope for FIFA (as little as it may be), but I know the game can be better than what they have been giving us. So, I'll continue to speak my mind about the game, good things with the bad.

Please anwser a simple question. How is a constructive criticism possible without playing a game? Sure, we can say a thing or two about the movies (and I doubt these are from final version) but comparing gamplay of two different games when u played only one of these... oh come on! :| It's ridiculous!

Wait for the demo!

Why wuz there a video for us to watch..??

I'd say its to get a feel of how, the soon to come, game will be like. Right?

And if someone got a certain impression out of the game from the video, I don't see any problems with him comparing his thoughts from the video with other games he as played.

-And it is apparent from the video that there was almost NO build-up in gameplay.
-You just see a couple of passes quick struggle for the ball... and bam! you've got your first goal in no time.
-Yeah right the game is not in its final stage. And, sure you will see major changes in AI by now. -.-

Just by looking at those you could easily compare it with PES/WE right away, without even having to play the game.

And oh, don't say the arcade/simulation option will chage how the game plays. Just using pass experiences with FIFA and a little common sense with game developing, which is a VALID thought process, I don't see major differences in how the game will play toggling the simulation option on and off.

Well the good points from the video are
-Great graphics
-love the badge logos on the field... and the scores too
-Player head and body ratio has improved
-Nets look a lot better
[but net animation is really poor compared to WE/PES]
-Ball has finally been seperated and you could tell it has
[then again honestly the whole animation and physics don't flow as natural and realsitic as WE/PES]
-Crowds look great
etc...

visually FIFA2003 just look great with improved ball physics.
[not perfect yet, no game is, but again using my honest opinion, WE/PES has a more natural feel to it]

Overall, just by looking at the video, it has gave me both good and bad impressions about the new game. Mostly the dissapointment, having played WE6, comes from how the game LOOKED LIKE it played gameplay wise and the ball physics.

Well, I guess I just can't expect too much of a change/improvement at once from the likes EA has been producing.
But yes it is definitely promising. I see a decent game coming in just a couple of years from EA, or MAYBE even in a couple of days...

i donno if anyone mentioned this...

I dont know if anyone already mentioned this, but Inter was controlled by a real person. This COULD explain MAYBE why Inter's defense was beaten so badly and efficiently, like if the guy wasn't a very good player or something.

I'm not saying this is definitely so, but I'm saying it's a possibility.

Ah yes...not unlike the "America, love it or leave it" sentiment, and just as misinformed.

IF - and its a big "if" given the boggled brains at FIFA Marketing AG in Zurich - FIFA were as intelligent a sport governing body as, say, the NFL they might, like the NFL, provide their license not just to one software company, but rather spread the FIFA license out among many companies such that competition might be fostered, and consumers might have real choice among FIFA-licensed soccer gaming products.

For example, just this year there is Madden NFL 2003, NFL Fever 2003, and Sega's NFL 2K3. All licensed with the NFL and NFLPA, and all competing with each other to produce the BEST, most AUTHENTIC, American football experience available. Far from limiting sales, most console owners I know have bought two or three of the NFL titles, just to get all possible NFL gaming experiences; that's what competition can do, provide the marketplace with multiples of quality product.

Unfortunately, FIFA has no marketing foresight. Thus, we are left with the frustration of having to deal with EA; oddly enough, it wasn't until a product that can't even get a sniff of the FIFA license, Konami, began laying the smackdown on EA's soccer product all over Europe that EA began to act upon the criticism that is rightly levelled at them given that they (and FIFA) have positioned themselves as THE software representation of an authentic world fotball experience. If that's the case, why shouldn't enthusiasts with no other options (relative to a FIFA-licensed product) be EXTREMELY critical? They, through that criticism, are exercising the only engine of change other than product abandonment, which would actually be the best solution, but is a phenomenon that is highly unlikely to hapen, for the same reasons that EA never put any real work into the product between FIFA RTWC98 and now...soccer gaming's popularity is overwhelming.

It also doesn't help that Konami is as blind to the soccer PC market as they are; PES2 on PC would definitely drive EA to give critics what they want....authentic, immerisve gameplay taht is easy to learn but difficult to master...

Mate, where there is smoke, fire is usually close by. You can see the "smoke" in the videos and screenshots. If I see a problem in a gameplay vid, do you think playing the demo is going to make that problem disappear?

But even when I have played the demo and if I complain, you'll come back and say that the demo is not the complete version, the complete version will be better.

i agree with Universal.

About the lack of buildup.. if you lose the ball in the midfield line.. is called a counter attack.. no build up needed.. it wasnt a quick score.. is the start of the second half.. and yes the human player completely has no knowledge of passing and when to pass... but that lack of build, if you notice.. the human guy.. loses the ball everytime because he has to pass the ball in order to advance.. Thats what I got from the video..

Yeah, who ever was playing really seemed like he was struggling with the game.

But then why would a person like that be playing a pre-release version of the game now??

Yes, it MAY be a counter if you lose the ball from the mid. But, the vid did give an impression of a fast paced arcadic impresssion and it seemed to simple too score.
[And again, as much as i HATE to say this, that is when compared with PES/WE given the same situation]

Maybe its just cuz the person whoever wuz playing it.
Who knows..

Now......

where's the fr$kin demo~~??!

The Don't

Starting XI
My theory is that the game was simply on amateur and fast speed. This doesn't mean that is an excuse though. It is disappointing in my view, the simple lucky tackle then through on goal, then a goal.
In the back of my mind I've got a feeling that this type of thing only happens in amateur mode, and it is rare at that. Hopefully, just hopefully.

I reallllllyyyyy hope that there is an option to SLOW the game down, because it almost looked like I was watching the game in fast forward! I don't know what EA are talking about, but there was nothing 'real' about the game I saw...

Please Konami!! Bring PES2 to North America, or at least make a new version of ESPN MLS Extratime! ANYTHING! :-s

PES 2 still rules...FIFA 2003 is a children game. Not for "hardcore" players like me. Fortunatly i'm going to play Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2 this winter ( and all next year till PES3 comes) while this F*****g FIFA's "lovers" still playing that pinball crappy game... :p :p
