Hexus Pes6 Xbox 360 Preview

A few interesting points.

'Now, unless the Xbox 360 we were playing on had a few issues, the actual matches that we played seem to run slower than previous games. We tested this out with Thierry Henry, knowing that in Pro Evo 5 we knew we could virtually run up the pitch dodging and weaving past the opposition with speed and purpose. However, we were right. Henry’s pace has been slowed right down to fit more with the rest of the team. This appears to be the same with many of the players who are known for their speed; it’s also worth checking out Michael Owen to see the change. This slow down in gameplay can be seen across the board, and although the speedier players are still faster than their slower team-mates, they are all noticeably slower than in Pro Evolution Soccer 5. While we aren’t particularly ‘over the moon’ with this change, there are plenty of other modifications to the gameplay that improve the experience and when we asked some of the other gamers playing Pro Evo 6 about the change in pace, most seemed happy enough and thought it actually made for a more realistic experience.'

I hope it's the same for the ps2/pc version and not the reported faster tempo like in pes5 for the pc/ps2.It would mean you would have to pass the ball about more and be more creative etc, rather than passing it to a henry and running the defence ragged, a welcome addition for me as the amount of times I play lame twats online who pass the ball directly to a fast striker and run and run and dribble past the defence especially when it's laggy is really annoying, and make's the gameplay dull.

'The action appears to be much tighter and keeping possession of the ball needs more concentration than before due to the tweaks with the AI players. They now close you down more effectively and appear to be more intelligent at spotting any runs into space. While this does mean that the game is more realistic, it also ensures that you won’t sending balls over the top of the defence to a player running towards the 25 yard line with such ease as before'

Again, good news as far as i'm concerned.I'm a possession hog and I feel pes5 doesn't suit my style as the player's off the ball are crap and your more successful playing pes5 when you play a direct style.

The enhancement to the defensive play of the AI also translates over to the attacking play. Players make superb runs for through-balls and will try and get ahead of the play when you have possession as they constantly search for more space in order to receive a pass. Reactions from players in the box who are jostling for space are also more realistic, and after the initial bore draws that we played, we scored three times in as many games from headers (something that we rarely did in Pro Evo 5).

Once again tremendous news (Y)
As well as playing the possession game, I play a 4-3-3 and the amount of times I cross the ball in a game without being successful is annoying, and also attacking midfielders at times hardly make runs in the box when your wide is frustrating, even when setting it to full attacking.

It wasn’t long before we started to find our range and of passing and shooting as we soon realised that taking on three or four players at a time is not quite as straight forward as before. We were knocking the ball left, right and centre to spread the play and create space for players to run into. The work rate needed to create that scoring opportunity has took a significant shift and the balance between defending and attacking play is almost spot-on, and although we do think that some people won’t like the change, it’s just going to be a matter of time before Pro Evo fans fit into the new system.

Again the more you have to pass it about and be creative rather than just being lame and direct sounds more appealing and realistic.

The goalkeepers are still as poor as ever and a number of back passes that we made were fumbled, almost resulting in the other side stealing an embarrassing goal

Hope they fix this in the final code.

We’ll still be adding Pro Evo 6 to our game collection, even though our expectations haven’t quite been exceeded. To be honest we’d have been quite happy with the same game as last time with some visual enhancements and improved goalkeepers, but what we’ve actually got is a more difficult, slower game with few visual improvements and goalies that still don’t have the confidence to collect a cross and keep hold of it. We didn’t quite have enough hands-on time to be able to appreciate the changes to the gameplay, but the bottom line is that Konami are constantly striving to make the beautiful game more realistic. Whether they’ve done this or not we’re undecided. We’re going to reserve judgement until we’ve had time to play it more.

Obvioulsy can't tell without playing it, but I fell they've been a bit harsh there.
The 360 Pes6 version to me sounds more appealing than pes5 due to the slower tempo and the fact you have to be a lot more creative and skillful than in pes5 instead of just playing plain direct as in pes5, sounds a like a major improvement.

I only hope these gameplay tweaks are applied to the pc version.

Ffs, I never had any problems with the golies. EVER! Not in PES3, 4 or 5. Not a single mistaken back-pass for example... and collecting crosses is a matter of timing and proper control of the goalie-charge button. In my games, the collect/punch ratio is around 60:40, just like in real life (in my pov)

I must agree also with AQUADARK, i thought the keepers were fine. At times making unbelievable saves.
