The only reason why it wasn't succesful is because Pires was to busy trying to be cocky with it. If he had just concentrated on executing the pass instead of concentrating on looking like a twat, it would of been great.

thanks...is it where the penalty taker instead of shooting passes the ball in the box and the player runs on to it to shoot at goal? I've seen an attempt like this before on video...not sure which game though.

Robert Pires and Thierry Henry's ill-advised attempt to showboat on a penalty kick.

Robert Pires messed up the unusual routine on Saturday against Manchester City when, instead of shooting straight from the spot, he tried to roll the ball across the area to Henry.

Pires miscued and the Gunners' French duo were left embarrassed but Henry insists he would consider trying again one day.

'If we get a penalty against Spurs (next Saturday), I won't mess around - I'll smash it into the net,' he told The Sun.

'I will try it again - but next time I will push the ball off the penalty spot for someone else.

'The main problem will be finding someone to do it with me, especially after Saturday.'

Henry revealed: 'I have been trying to do something like this ever since I was in my early teens.

'But I never found anyone who had the guts to do it with me. Robert Pires did - but then he missed the ball.

'It's nothing to do with being brave, it's about getting it right.'
