Hey guys, well as you can see I have just joined this site and am hope that someone can actually help me with the major problem I have with Career mode.

If I choose a Division 2 side eg Swansea, Boston etc I cannot play a game after the 7th round (including the league cup tie).

What happens is that once I complete the 7th game I can do all the usual stuff up until it does that simulating screen in which everytime (no matter which team I am with) it crashes Fifa 2005 at 35%

On top of this if I play for any scottish side, spanish, german, italian or any other side I am lucky to get past 5 games (it crashes at 85%) some times it even reboots my PC which is bloody annoying

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem ??

At first I did however I removed them and reinstalled Fifa 2005 and still got the same error, the only thing I have installed since are the stupid faces for the manager but they shouldn't be causing any problems.

I just can't understand why it stops after the 7th game in the English comps and after the 5th game in any other league :f***:

take a look at any other background tasks running, hard to find in XP.

the following will work with XP Home edition with Service Pack 2 (at least it mysteriously fixed all my EA games for me, for a reason I still can't figure out)

you _might_ want to try a clean boot as follows:

1. from your start menu go to run and type "msconfig"
then in msconfig...
2. click general tab
2a. click selective startup
2b. click to clear the "process system.ini file" tick
2c. click to clear the "process win.ini file" tick
2d. click to clear the "load startup items" tick
3. click services tab
3a. click to choose "hide all microsoft services" _then_
3b. click to choose "disable all"
4. click ok to reboot your computer

a message will come up after reboot, click
"don't show this message or launch the system configuration utility when windows starts" and click ok.

try it now and see if FIFA crashes or hangs or anything bad.

after you are done troubleshooting and want to change back to normal...

1. restart the msconfig utility
2. select "normal startup"

...to go back to normal processing (that should automatically re-load all your original settings for you).

note my EA games kept right on working after I went back to normal boot. i did nothing else in between. go figure.

All works fine now - I just unplugged my portable HD and SC and worked fine (Fifa 2005 appears to have clashes with USB2 devices plugged in as I have tried using several different USB2 devices and all managed when plugged in to crash Fifa 2005 ????)
