Ok when I make crosses, to head the ball what do you guys press? The heading button or the shooting button, I'm so terrible at heading the ball hahaha.

i'm scoring headers on PS2and PC version ,same sh*t
Its virtually IMPOSSIBLE to score with a header on the PC.
You can't direct headers on the PC, and you can barely manage to header except 1 in 10 attempts. You can't head the ball when you are on your own anyway so its almost impossible to score, so i don't know how you can be scoring 'loads' of headers.
The FIFA 2003 crap game engine doesn't let you header when you are alone and lobs/chips are practically useless.
EA should have fixed it, but the haven't and they wont. They knew it when they released it and to be quite frank, they just don't care.

how long hv u been playing? i'm not sure why but i've had no probs with headings..i can execute defensive headers and offensive ones as well, i can direct my headers back to my gk,and for eg, my lcb can direct his header across the back to my rcb or lb when long balls are being punted in and i can also head the ball out of defence frm crosses slung in...of coz mebe not 10 out of 10,but since i've been playing a while,i can manage 7/10 on average...against bigger stronger players it gets harder too it seems
says who? i've managed lots of goals when i'm thru and facing the gk 1-on-1 and chipped him...sumtimes u get lucky when he's off his line a wee bit and u can lob him...and i'm sure many of us in the forum has scored loads of goals that way...in a way,ur buildup play does affect the types of goal scoring situations u find urself in too
i agree the game is slated to be capable of reaching much higher levels in terms of realism and seems like ea has some way to go still b4 it can lay claim to having produced an absolute winner but u've got to play the game a tad more b4 u can master some of the advertised aspects IMO

But 'hard' in a sense that its f$#ing frustrating due to the cr@p game physics.
And, even if you head the ball in, the ball has its own lows of physics. It crawls through the air. Oh, shouldn't forget to mention the cr@p and very few, header animations.
Not that I bother 'bout the game anymore....

Anyone who claim FIFA 2003 heading system works properly is talkign tosh. Sorry but thats the truth, a blind turkey could tell that its very very poor for headering.
The ability to header and direct headers is fundemental of football, and its hard as hell and very innacurate and crap in 2003.
Second I am not talking about lobbing the goal keep. Since when did lobbing the goal keeper 5 time a match become realism?
I am talking about runing through midflied and curling a high cross field ball out to my wingers, or clipping a little ball over the top. One of the most fundemental things in the game of football and it cant be done in Fifa 2003. Really its a joke. How can you remove that from football?

They juiced up the CPU to make them man mark in 5's and 6's and because of all the spaces this caused they crippled the chip and headwering system to compensate and make the game hard enough so they could blag it as a finsihed product.
Well if you call blagging it and makeing it hard and exceptionally unrealistic and unsatisfying football, then yeah I guess thats what it is.
But me, I prefer to have my full range of passing and heading available as normal and playing proper football rather than some excuse for a game EA made up.
I am going to wait for FIFA 2004 demo when they release it and if its got the same crap like this one, I am going to actively campaign all round the net and everywhere possible to really slaughter the game reputation before it ever hits shelves.
Why? Because I am disgusted at what EA has done. What makes it worse is that they KNEW all along the porblems. Why do you think the game has that ridiculous pack hunting man marking in it? Because they used it to compensate for the HUGE flaws in the AI. And they crippled the rest of the game to cover over the cracks.
I mean seriosuly you can't header when you are standing on your own, you can't use crossfiled balls and chip passes. Do you really think they don't KNOW these things are a mess up? of course they do...and yet they wont patch them?

well its kinda hard to convince u when u're so obviously pissed off and blinded like a turkey urself...FFS nobody said the header mechanism is perfect...it's flawed but doable and i'm not talking tosh when i said i could do as the abovementioned..

but i must say that it is not entirely true either. granted that the inability to curl the ball in open play was one of the most baffling gaffes made by ea,u could in actual fact whip a cross field ball albeit without the curl and i believe theres been many replay threads describing this same instance. i for example have managed to execute a cross field ball out wide for my winger to cut in and score and in another instance a crossfield ball whipped across and taken on the volley by my striker resulting in a goal. i hv the replays to show u but i couldnt be bothered to dig thru them as u'd probably accuse me of engineering the wind factor to achieve that. as for the ball over the top,of coz that can be done...prompt ur players to make a diagonal run for instance,and a little tap on the chip button would achieve that,juz as long as u time it correctly so as not to be caught offside.

u're not alone in feeling ripped off wat with the game being buggy and all u noe...but tis getting a bit tiring dun ya agree? if u're still hyped mebe u could dig up all those previous threads to mollify u...
