Heading system

Well, everyone knows this is the most irritating EA error in fifa 2003 and im affraid it will be repeated in 04...this is the main reason: EA guys need to PLAy real football before making the game....

anyway, i want to make good criticism, so i'm gonna tell how IMO the header system should be in a soccer game...

the main factor is positioning: just like in konami games(sorry for mentioning them) BEFORE u think in the timing ull have to hit the ball (last year EA guys said their heading system was perfect because u needed to push the heading button in the perfect timing:rolleyes: ) u must get rid of the opponent, for instance when giggs crosses, nistelrooy has to beat the defender in the positioning and then he'll try to hit the ball in the right time with the right accuracy....in PES whenever i make a cross i try to ANTECIPATE the defender and beat him in the skies...i dont know whats so hard about making the heading system real...

but of course first of all EA has to let us move the player while the ball is in the air because the player just gets stopped in the field waiting for the ball, thats not how football is like...

If u ever played iss2 and u play football often u know what im talking about...anyone with me?

I like your idea Goo, I also think maybe a crosshair or some kind of transparent marker should highlight on the grass, to show where the player needs to be to header the ball effectively. Straying slightly when pressing the header button could result in a dodgy header, not quite exactly where you want it, allowing an opposing player the possibility of intercepting the ball. The marker could also move a little depending on the amount of curl, which should be press after you kicked the ball, witht the longer the curl button is pressed, the more it will curl, therefore, the more the marker will move on the pitch.

If you are far away from the marker, running towards it, and press the header button, could result in a diving header, or if the player is in front of the marker could result int he player attempting the overhead kick.

But thats if you get it yer own way, if you have someone challenging for the ball, you could be jossling for the same spot and the header could be dependent on the position of the player to the marker and the strength and height could also determine the eventual winner of the header.

Great idea, these are just my view of how it could be done. There could also be an AI assist for this if people find it difficult, but something for the hardcore footy gamers to perfect.

What d'ya think?

yes OB1(H) thats all it takes for a perfect heading system, and what amazes me is that iss2 for psx1 has already this system and it is just like in real life....I believe this is not hard to make but im not a programmer:rolleyes:

EA guys, cmon the crossing system is essential:confused:
