Well, they're as pointless as all other forms of personal aesthetics, really. Earrings, haircuts...

I'm quite ok with them, I think they can look cool on men and in rare occasions, make a woman a little bit sexier.

I agree that it's a bit awkward to have a small and lonely piece somewhere on your body, depends a lot on the person though. That's why I chose my first tattoo to be a pretty big one. I have some plans for the future but I'm taking my time, though. Firstly because I'm too poor, secondly I think it's stupid when a person in his/her 20's is already covered in tattoos. I've always though of tattoos mostly as of somethings to do with memories, but if you're 21 and already covered you're a spoiled dipshit and all your tattoos symbolize is the day your mom gave you enough money to get your full-sleeves done.

Oh, and I also find girls with tattoos very very attractive :(
