Hasselbaink tells Blues: 'I'm leaving'
Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink has told Chelsea he will leave in the summer unless he is guaranteed first-team football.
The Dutch striker has become increasingly disillusioned by the rotation policy operated by Ranieri.
He is no longer assured of a starting place, due to strong competition for places from the likes of Eidur Gudjohnsen, Hernan Crespo and Adrian Mutu.
And Hasselbaink told Dutch TV show Studio Sport that it would be his intention to leave Stamford Bridge in the near future unless his personal situation improves.
'I have informed the management of the club in December that I will leave the club if I can't play on a more regular basis,' said the 31-year-old who cost Chelsea £15million when he joined from Atletico Madrid in June 2000.
'I want to play every week.'
Hasselbaink will have a year left on his contract at the end of the current season, and he feels as though there is little prospect of Ranieri changing his unpredictable team selections.
'There is no competition at all. He (Ranieri) makes a lot of changes, but if you play well you can very well be on the bench again the next game.'
Hasselbaink has eight league goals this season, having started only 17 games.
Leeds, Boavista and Atletico Madrid are among his former clubs, and it has been mooted in the Spanish media that the Primera Liga could be the next stop-off in his career, with Barcelona having admired from afar for several seasons.

Makes a fair point about the tinkerman. Someone needed to say and J.F.H. said what most were thinking. You can't blame him heshould be playing regularly. Jim Floyd Hasselbaink is one my favorite players to watch in the EPL and Newcastle really need to go after him. Even at 31 he would really be great for Toon. I think Chelsea need him though. He has the most tenure at the club I think and Chelsea really can't afford to let guys like Hasselbaink go to bring in flavor of the month players. If Roman and Ranieri they would keep him. Chelsea letting J.F.H. get away would be like Arsenal selling Bergkamp or Man United getting away with Solskjaer. They are not the most prominant players at the club but they are keys to their teams success.
