Hard Copy and Origin Download?

In 2011 I bought Fifa12 only to realise that I had to download the game, AGAIN, though I bought the hard copy! My question is; is the same thing going to happen with Fifa14, if I buy a hard copy do I have to download the game again?

Why would you even consider a hard copy, just download from Origin and you're done.

in his defense, based on his internet speeds (and bandwidth limits) it may be easier and faster to install from a disc than it is to download a game every time he needs to.

i myself would prefer a disc as well because i can create an iso from it and always have a disc in excellent condition.

Many people still prefer the hard copy: I prefer the hard copy just to have the box to put on the "shelf of the games" (even if I download the game from Origin then).
But there's a sad truth to face: even if one can install the game via the disc (I'm not sure whether it's the case for FIFA 14) usually he still has to download several MBs/GBs of patches in order to have it updated and running (as far as I know you can only play online with the latest patch installed).

So, hard copy or not, I'm afraid there will still be need for an internet connection to update the game to the latest version before playing it (provided one doesn't want to only play offline).

Yes, that's where the original poster is incorrect. The game doesn't have to be downloaded -- just install all files from the disk -- but the game will need to be activated thru Origin. Steam works the same way with disk versions of games like Skyrim -- that's just the way PC gaming works these days.
