Technically this was yesterday, but still please join me in wishing birthday greetings to the greatest poet who ever lived.

Also a phenominal artist and visionary thinker, William Blake has just marked his 250th birthday.

The epitome of Romanticism, a genius and icon of his time.

Commence your celebrations.

i wander thro each charterd street
near where the charterd thames doth flow
and mark in every face i meet
marks of weakness marks of woe

in every mark of every man
in every infants cry of fear
in every voice in every ban
the mind forged manacles i hear

how the chimney-sweeper's cry
every blackening church appals
and how (not sure if thats right???) the hapless soldier's sigh
runs in blood down palace walls

but most thro midnight streets i hear
how the youthful harlot's curse
(?????) the new born infants tear
and blights with plagues the marriage herse

**** me I still remember most of it.

Not bad at all man, I recited it from memory at our Blake party last night and messed up in exactly the same places :p

I also got most of the way through the Tyger.

Nothing beats Garden of Love though, and Little Boy Lost in songs of experience. And the Chimney Sweeper in Innocence. And the poison tree, and the human abstract. The man was a genius!
