SCEA's big hope gets pushed back to Fall 2004, so you now won't be playing Gran Turismo 4 until the end of the year.
We were originally told Christmas 2003. Then that went back to Spring this year. Now that date has been pushed back to Fall 2004, which is extra bad news because autumn for Japan and the US could potentially mean early 2005 for us.
Dang, and indeed, blast.
During the ill-fated press conference, SCEA confirmed that the game will support up to six players racing online and there will be a community of sorts where racers can come together, chat, and kick virtual tyres. The game will also support the upcoming PS2 hard drive, which bodes well for extra car and track downloads. But despite all the good stuff, the fact that we've still got an awful long time to wait before we get our hands on it was the thing that left everyone feeling somewhat dejected when the curtain came down.
Just keep your fingers crossed for the autumn release date in Europe.
