I've been playing this a while now on X-Box and I have to say it's doing my head in to the point I'm not enjoying the game anymore. There are just so many annoying features.
1. Awful referee's - The opponents take you legs out purposely when you've hit the ball forward and are the last man and they get a yellow if your lucky!?
2. Corners - 99% of the time you're shoved away and don't even get near the ball.
3. Attacking - Players NEVER break forward, I've tackled my opponent, bolted up the pitch and the radar shows my team not even coming up from Midfield.. even my forward sits in the middle of the pitch.
4. Awful Passing - You can't make the man you're passing to move forward anymore, so they stand there like muppets giving you nobody to pass to... yet the computer players break forward for passes? Not to mention those left to right side of the pitch passes they make with ease... yet for us, nobody is forward. And the only time they DO run foward they go offside at a stupid moment.
5. Off The Ball - Anytime you pass the ball or hit it long, the game see's it as you've lost possesion and runs backwards instead of onto the long ball!?
6. Dump Clearances - You've won the ball back, stopped the player and faced upfield... yet you hit shoot and he turns 180 and kicks it off for a corner?
7. Rebound Goals - These are how I let in 85% of my goals last season, the keeper saves it and despite the ball rolling infront of 3 defenders and me bashing the shoot button to clear it.. the players run away and their attacker slides it in... yet when you try it, most of the time the computer clears it with ease.
8. Shirt Pulling - Blatant pulling back when opponents pull you down and hold you back for 20 yards or so and the referee's do nothing about it.
9. Super keepers - It's far to easy for computer keepers to save one on one close range shots, the shots at always too basic and either go wide or at the keeper, unless you turn to the side and straight again, but usually it'll go wide when you do that too. Why can we not smash it along the floor with power? It ALWAYS go into the air making it an easy save... very unrealistic when most close range shots are placed along the floor into the corners and we can't do it.
10. Handicapping - A feature that I HATE, no matter how fast my players are (one being 91 accel and 87 pace)... I'm caught up by or out ran by very slow League One players!?!?! I have full energy too, so I'm baffled. Not to mention the momentum, my opponents seem to start with all 3 lights and I start with 1, even though I'm dominating from the very start?
11. Bigger Match = Harder Game - Normally this would be fine, infact I was asking for this... but FIFA 2006's method lacks realism. FA Semi Final as Oxford (League 2) vs Newcastle... I struggled and stuggled as I expected and only lost 1 nil to Newcastle which was from a corner caused by Problem #6. But that was fine, what annoyed me is the following season playing Brighton in the same stage, despite being a far better team than them... they played as good as Newcastle due to the stage of the competition and creamed me?
Same applies for divisions, I cruised through League Two, yet the following year playing teams of the same level and my team now 3 and half star... yet the teams played twice as good and were SO hard to beat.
12. Transfer Time - This is a HORRIBLE feature, I had 3 weeks left in the transfer window, had one match, but has I didn't have a game for 2 weeks... the game didn't come back until the market had closed meaning the player who I was negotiating with didn't join!
Overall - I'm sure most of you have had some of these problems if you've played a few seasons at a low level, I just had to let off some steam as I list this for sale on ebay. I've mastered most of the series (even though 98:RTWC and 2005 are the only decent ones) but FIFA 2006 is just awful and horribly misrated by all these magazines that give it 10/10 etc...
