Kibe Kru said:Ok, I think this deserves a more detailed explanation. Now that I have more time to type, I'll try to make clear why I dislike the Brazilian national team.
First I must make absolutely clear that I like the country. I really do, even though as Grunger would say, it's a bit f*cked up at times.
That leads to another thing. We have problems. Lots of them. But the people don't seem to care about that if the NT is winning. It leads to situations like "My 14 yrs old daughter is pregnant and illiterate, but what the hell, have you seen Ronaldinho?" or the much more common "I can name the 1958 World Cup winning side off the top of my head. What? Who I voted for in the elections last year? I uh... forgot."
If the country was perfect, I wouldn't have a problem with the NT. After all, it makes people happy. The thing is, sometimes people shouldn't be. Happy people don't change things. Right now, we have a crap government (not that the candidates in the upcoming presidential election make me feel like it can't be worse). But what the f*ck, Brazil just beat Australia!
The talk in the streets isn't one about a major revolt on prisons orchestrated from within the walls through cell phones. It's about Ronaldo being fat. Or Ronaldinho playing better for Barca than the NT.
If someday the NT fails miserably, I hope we'll see improvements, since the people won't be distracted by football. That's why I want them to lose.
Of course it isn't that simple, though it would be a start.
I smell some (lots, actually) of "complexo de vira-lata" here :mexican:
