Nothing beats Wikipedia.

wow, Italy actually has more options than France to go through, thought it was the other way around.....but i doubt it will be a high-scoring draw.
Its really hard to choose between the 3 countries.
What a wacky situation to be in.
thx for the research btw.

I love the way the Romanians came out in this one. Their counterattack was beautiful and flawless for the most part and I thought that they handled themselves really well in the middle of the pitch. The Italians played an attractive form of soccer aswell and I felt that they created the more dangerous and meaningful chances. Pirlo was subpar for the second game in a row, and that's kinda worrisome with the absence of their main creative force.

the player of the game for me was the Romanian goalkeeper. I feel that he's earned himself a move to a bigger club with that fantastic performance.

so, for the guys who don't know much of romanian football, which of the players impressed you (from those of whom you don't know about)?

the little dude who was subbed off early (I think) in the second half for injury reasons. I dont know if he's a winger or a forward, but his tenacity and feel for the game really impressed me.

It's been such a collective effort, especially in the second game, so it's really hard to single one player out. The entire midfield was noteworthy yesterday, I thought.

Florentin Petre, yeah, this guy has only 1.65m or something and 60kg. Well, it's the health which is a bitch sometimes, you see, he was one of the best players in Romanian League during the 1998-2005 seasons, but he got hepatitis C just when a lot of bigger clubs were interested in buying him(after EURO 2000 I think). Otherwise, he is a skilled player with a lot of personality.

guys UEFA has confirmed there was OFFSIDE at Del Piero,no Toni!!!!watch the replay and stay with the eyes on Del Piero!and the penalty was 100% sure Panucci grabbed the neck of Niculai and you can easily see that ;) so in the end Italy was very lucky to get a draw and not a defeat :)

bull****, the ref even stated that it wasnt offside afterwards:

“There is nothing to discuss. I made a mistake on Toni’s goal and I said the same to the UEFA Commission,” confessed the Norwegian Tom Henning Ovrebo.

it`s just uefa trying to save face, and take a look at the replay again. del piero wasnt offside, just more of the same crap about refs/uefa being infallible. replays must be used for controversial goals. it`s 2008 not 1908.

romania is lucky to get a draw and italy is unlucky to not get a win. a gifted penalty to romania and a perfectly legal goal disallowed for italy. buffon saved the penalty by himself on the field, he didnt get assistance from the ref or uefa.

There are dozens of such episodes during any match. Players hold each other that way whenever there's a corner or something.

So... I thought this was a very entertaining game with some good build-up and attacking play from Romania in particular. While I had no particular favourite, I found it rather unfortunate that Mutu missed his penalty but you have to give Gigi Buffon his props... he must be the best Gk in the world.

Totally disagree, he WAS the best GK in the world but he conceded 3 goals from our national team. The best goalkeeper in the world is EDWIN VAN DER SAR, clearly he proved that with ManUtd and our national team, his saves are out of this world sometimes and he's a penaltykiller (ask Anelka).
Just look at the freekick from Pirlo, he held it with ease and look at the chances France had yesterday, they kept shooting on goal but Sar kept stopping them. Sar is even better than Cech at the moment :33vff3o:(Y)

gifted penalty ?

italy didn't played better, they only hold the ball in our half more, they made alot of crossings but 90 % of them were without adress. We had at least 2 situations 1 on 1 with the keeper, we had 1 post and much more shots then italy , according to the statistics Romania had 5 shots on goal 15 shots wide, Italy had 4 shots on goal , 10 shots wide, they were lucky escaping with a drew with us.

the refferee who will lead Holland - Romania will be the italian Massimo Bussaca.... how about this?

everyone talks about Romania losing to HOLLAND, what makes them so sure that the italians are gona advance, they forgot they got to play FRANCE? like i said before the Euro started, i see italians finishing with 0 points, unfortunately they got one.

Everyone's making such a big deal about the "poor" italians. Expecialy in north american tv stations. lots of ass kissing from tv stations, must be because of marketing power, more italians in North America wich equals more $$$$$

Than i see ppl saying that it was no penalty for ROMANIA. wtf after that penalty the italians were just throwing themselves in our penalty area begging for something, this coming from "CAMPIONI DEL MONDO" what a ***ing joke.

Im just sick of watching this football where the small team is ruled out and not given any chances, commentator should be impartial in a game not root for any of the teams involved. I see expecialy the guys from ESPN not giving a chance to any small team, however once they win they dont know what to say, they start making excuses.

lighten up will ya, if yer rooting for yer own country then why bother what everyone else thinks, and not everyone thinks Romania will lose, just because of a few posts here and there.
if Romania are good enough then they'll go through, and as passionate football fans, of course most of us will complain if things don't go our way, and thats what the Italian fans are doing, but don't let that bother you so much.
its just part of being a footie fan "package".

as a neutral, this group is really the closest as far the 3 remaining teams go.
I really hope that all of three will end up even on points, goal difference, etc so we could have a mini-league, hehehe.
as far as the blokes from ESPN are concerned, they're just pundits.
of course if asked, they'll go for the bigger teams, its just typical that they do.
don't get pissed off by something simple as that.

Romania did the job against France and Italy.... They have now a great chance to be qualified....
But we have to remenber that the dutch subs must be motivated to do a good match in order to play in the next matchs...
(Ans when Robben and V. Persie are the subs... that's the proof that Dutch team has a real incredible level...)
