I'm going to do a brief analysis of the most popular formations used in the classic world cups.

2-3-5 is the most popular through the 1938 world cup

then 3-2-5 is most popular during the 1950, '54, & '58 world cups

4-2-4... in 1962 Several formations are used. In studying the quarterfinals and later matches the most popular is the 4-2-4 but this is the first that I have seen of the 4-4-2 lineup we know so well today.

the 4-3-3 is by far the most popular in 1966. Interesting to see Uruguay using the 5-3-2 in some cases. First time that I have seen that 5 defenders were used in a world cup match.

the 4-4-2 is used most commonly in the '70 world cup it seems. But several other formations were used as well. It wasn't as clear this time around.

since we use the 4-4-2 so frequently today (and the 4-5-1 is becomming more popular). I am assuming it became this way in the 70s and moved forward.

In order to speed up the process of creating these teams I'm going to try to make some team templates for attribute values in each formation so that more prepatches can be made more quickly.

This is the goal at least.

Thanks for your time guys!

Arguably the most successful non-fifa team in the world.

Download the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus here!!

As always with teams from politically sensitive regions, my creating and posting of this team is in no way a support for the nation it represents. I have no opinion in favor of or opposed to this nation's sovereignty. The patch I am releasing is representitive of their football team which does very much exist and is recognized by the NF-Board.

Any posts in protest of me releasing this football team or any other will be ignored. We are simulating football here, not politics.

Thanks!

I took down the link for northern cyprus after being called a "supporter of murder" which is as good as being a murderer in my opinion, by one biased follower of this thread.

The attack came after I asked a question to the SG member about kits and their format in '09. He claimed that I legitimized the position of the Northern Cypriots. He cowardly attacked me via MSN messenger where he couldn't be held accountable for his actions.

I quoted my unedited post so that everyone could see that when I posted it I made specific notice of my non-support for the government there. I was emulating a football team NOTHING MORE. I do not support murder. I don't know what happened in northern cyprus. I don't have a position on the situation in northern cyprus or it's history.

It's sad to me that I should have to sensor myself in this way. I considered this person a friend and am shocked by the unprovoked attack. But to continue to show that I have no affiliation with the government in Northern Cyprus, I chose to take down that download. I support football, nothing more. Hopefully we can one day get past petty unfounded attacks and support human life at its finest, expressing itself on a football pitch.

Man... I hate this type of people... But don't worry. There are few of 'em. How is that possible here? I dunno. But you know, many palestinians speak bad about israelis, many serbians speak bad about kosovars and the list could go on and on... Those are just freakin' political maniacs. We only talk about football here, so enough with political crap. In the future, if you do a patch with a controversial country, you shouldn't add any things like "I'm not supporting this region... blah blah". Normal people would understand. If there are 1 or 2 retarded people, no problem.
And you legitimized a country? You got some power there, ain't it? :D (just kidding)
Oh, and I think I know who said that. Ain't it that greek kitmaker? (won't give names, think of "Do it yourself" series :D)
I believe he would be the only one that is greek (cause I don't believe there are cypriots in here), and I know his temperament... You don't have to answer...
Now, to get to our real business, what's up with the project? Still working? While you were absent, I made for myself roster updates for all european nations present in the original game, plus Tunisia, Brazil, USA and some more. Shall I send that to you?

Thanks for the support guys... As for updates, yeah please send me what you can. I'm back in school now so I have extremely limited time but I will work on whatever you send and get it out as fast as possible. I like my USA lineup but it isn't really the first team... Bob Bradley selects a different team than the one I would so i dunno how users prefer it. In my opinion though, It is much more prudent to start Jozey Altidore (spanish first division, 18 years old, 2 goals 5 caps) over Brian Ching (Houston Dynamo, 30 years old, 9 goals 31 caps)

Jozy's obviously good... I dont really understand the point of Ching...

I started doing some Madden (american football) editing and discovered that one of the biggest problems with the patches I've been working on is that I try to make them too perfect and too detailed and worry too much about continuity. It makes for a better patch but it takes a much longer time and as a result less gets done. We've probably only edited about half of the world's teams and we should be much further along.

So MrRomaniac has edited a couple teams that I hadn't worked on yet... I was going to be sure that the ratings system was consistent between all of them but instead I'm just going to post them as is. They are very well done and if we get a chance we will go back and work on continuity.

Here they are. I didn't work on any of these...
