Graphics card recommendations

I currently have a 9600 pro. Time to upgrade but i don't want to spend more than £100.

As i see it my options are:
9800 pro for around £70
6600 GT for around £100
or
6800 LE for around £100

Any recommendations?

you know, your 9600pro is still good enough and as jefferson goh said, save your money for next generation cards.

Out of the three your best option is the 6800LE. Wider memory interface. You can also use Rivatuner to perhaps unlock the other pixel pipelines/vertex shaders to softmod the card into a 6800 or 6800GT, which cannot be done on a 6600GT.

The core speed is slower on 6800 series cards than 6600 cards, but its a difference in architecture, so it doesnt matter. In the same way that an Athlon 64 at 3ghz would absolutely beat the living hell out of a Pentium 4 at 3ghz.

In short, 6800LE. I don't think there's any point saving for a 7800, as it's PCI-E only, and given the cards you are looking at, you have an AGP motherboard, and I;m sure you don't want to buy another motherboard. :)

edit: www.overclockers.co.uk have some good deals on now - the Leadtek 6800LE is £105, the Aopen one is just under £100, and on the "This Week Only" they have two 6800GT's for under £200, may be worth a look. (just note the XFX one is superior to the Asus one, because of the memory used)
