This is just plain crap. Anyone with an amateur photoshop background could write his name on a cloud (9/11 devil's face)... on a wave (as in this case) or on any special body parts. Plus there's nothing miraculous about hundreds of people dying in a natural event. This is just how this world is, its not paradise, and many accidents happen here and there, if anything, this could be a reminder to everyone of us of how fragile human life is, and to give certain attention about the aspects of life that really matter... before anyone starts talking about 'signatures' on tsunamis.

As regards the arabic writing. Well there are different forms of Arabic writing and the one in referral is called 'Reqaa'... Its characterized by being casual, scrappy, takes less time to write and indisctinctive. Kinda like how ppl write in diaries or in lecture notes. The point is that this writing is so indistictive and also the word "Allah' is so simple and easy to write, that you can read it on almost any set of lines if you want to. Kinda like the Christian Cross. Now if anyone looks around in the room they're sitting in, how many intersecting lines will you meet? Are these all 'signs' and 'signatures'? That wouldn't be so reasonable to believe would it.

I heard it from many many Muslim scholars how it is completely incorrect and ignorant to believe that this event was a 'punishment' or so. They have all emphasized how Islam makes it clear that this world is not the place of reward and punishment. It is only a place of work and deeds. IF it were a place of punishment then first of all there would be no freedom of choice, to believe or not, to do good or not, and since doing good wasn't our choice then there would be no meaning for a reward for any good deeds... you see the whole thing wouldn't make sense. Plus if this were a place of punishment then a guess many people missed their share throughout the course of history, in every second everywhere. It's just plain crap that people keep saying when they get carried away with such an enormous tragic event.

The quotes in the article are so ridicuous too... and the part about 'The scientists have a more rational explanation..' is hillarious and pathetic. The writer was going somewhere and that final line showed us where. It's strange how some would ignore the real messages and ignore looking into their meaning, and prefer to 'make up' divine messages of their own out of natural events, then enjoy mocking these 'made up' messages and triumphing about how science proved it wrong. Not a really scientific thinking if u ask me.
Oh and here's what the Qur'an says:
And say: The truth is from your Lord, so let him who please believe, and let him who please disbelieve
The Qur'an 18:29

Sorry not a punishment, at least not according to Islam. It's really absurd and illogical. Such tragedies happen, it's all part of the world. And so is disease, suffering and agony. We shouldn't attribute everthing to illogical signs and signatures. And I want to add one last thing, that we wouldn't have progressed to what we are now if it weren't for the 'need'. If it weren't for illness then there would be no medicine, with all its marvel and advancements. We wouldn't enjoy eating if we never knew hunger. We 'need' to move fast and so means of transportation have been invented. We 'need' to communicate instantly and so means of communication have been invented. It was these 'needs' that drove us to progress. This isn't paradise and one should work to satisfy his needs. What's the use of being created with a brain that I wouldn't need to use? If it weren't for the brain that realizes the problems and needs then seeks solutions to satisfy these needs, then we would be just like animals millions of years ago...sitting in a cave satisfied with what we got. Such events are just part of this world, without making divine messages or signatures out of them.

yeah I'm rambling on but wat the hell... It's the Islamic new year and I don't have to be at the hospital today... it's a day-off (Happy new year everyone)...

Peace all.
