I'm loving this :D
actually it fits the name pretty well
pro "evolution" soccer

I have to retrain myself and play in a totally new attitude

I have to think where and when to make the tackle, I have to think which angle, which foot will be stepping down when I decide to pass/shoot

I have to constantly assessing opponents ability, distance etc while having the ball

the stats have never been shown more realistically

this is just heavenly for me :D online matches are beautifully done too (though room for improvement in this department is pretty huge)

my biggest gripe with pes5 is the fact that the cpu controlled team's players play like superstars no matter who they are. That, and the fact that sometimes my passes go in the complete opposite direction that i'm holding on the d-pad.

all things considered it's still awesome though.

This pretty much sums it up.

Yep, I hated the PS2 Beta and wasn't going to bother this year with PES5 at all but I love it now. The PC version is great.

I've learnt to only foul maybe 10 times in a 15 minute game which is pretty good given I play pretty aggressively.

Sure, only having 500 people to watch me play sucks a bit but given I'm playing a bit like the real Manchester United at the moment that's probably only fair!

Can's seem to win offensive corners though. Is the method for winning headers different thatn in previous versions? e.g. do I have to use more timing, keep the button pushed down, etc.?

Anyway, love the game.

I think it's all about aim this time around. Pick a player in the box and aim it at him. I switch the strategy(L2+R1) to full attack as soon as the ball goes out of play, so there's more players in the box.

Yes it all about aiming on corners now. Your aim to be perfect, no more just lobbing it in there to your post player and getting 5 headed goals a match.

actually it is starting to piss me off a little. don't get me wrong. i loved the demo. i played about 50 matches with the demo on both 4 and 5 stars and none of the games seemed fixed or fishy. it all seemed realistic and flowed very good. best game ever, i thought.

of course technically there should be no difference between the demo and the real game, but i think i know what it is.

fact is, now i am playing on 4 stars serie A as inter and the good old PES nasties keep surfacing again: whenever i score the CPU kicks into "god" mode and my players turn into crap. they miss the simplest passes, they clear a ball but it magically bounces back to the opponent. they perform idiotic actions even though i clearly told them (via my "controls") to do something else. fine, if the CPU turns into god when i play Milan. but palermo? give me a break... 40/60 ball possession, a goal that i predicted (after one of my players "cleared" the ball to a corner, even though there was absoultely no command and no reason for having him do so). CPU dribbles like little roberto carlosses, like liittle ponies. can't even cross the middle line. headers straight back to palermo. tackles either foul or straight back to palermo. x-passes straight back to palermo, no matter where i point the pass at. in the end i won with a dodgy penalty awarded to me, but it didn't feel right and was very frustrating

so where is the difference? i think it's the adaptive AI. this didn't exist in the demo because you started every game from scratch so to say -- as if you'd play PES5 for the first time fresh out of the package. real game different. CPU "learns" your patterns and steadily pumps up its ability, no matter which team you are facing next (and actually no matter which level you are playing). so after i beat milan barely by 1-0 palermo is next up and plays like milan on steroids.

this is certainly fine for the best of PES players who want a consistently increasing challenge and consider this game to be "too easy" after a while, but in terms of realism -- i've said this before -- it is just not right. there is just no way, that real palermo plays the way it did. so Konami should finally build in an option to turn this feature off.

and mind you: i am not complaining, because i can't win. i am doing quite ok in the standings. and it doesn't help me either if you tell me that you don't have this problem. consider yourself lucky then. i KNOW that it is there (it always has), and i just wish there'd be a way to avoid it other than having to clear ones option file on a regular basis.

Keep in mind also the bugs from the demo which exist and in the final version (i wasn't hoping to be fixed. This is Konami after all).

Balls and bodies going through players, players not doing what you're commanding them (damn, they even stop while i'm pressing the arrows.I have and a replay, lol :P).Also what happened to the manual control?Helloooooooooooooo Konami, when i choose MANUAL i want to be able to change players WHENEVER I WANT and not changing like the auto mode (ok,it's not always but it can destroy a great match). And Jesus, what's wrong with my teammates??I can understand if they can't "read" an opponent's move. But why,oh why mighty Konami doesn't the AI teammate go to control -get a free ball??Why do i have to change 2-3 players (you know, sometimes while changing a player the game doesn't give you the one closer to the ball) in order to get the ball? Why my teammate is so stupid and the opponent AI is so clever??Cause it's challenging to have stupid teammates?Yeaaaaah,in fact it's more challenging to control at the same time all 11 players. So let's pray for this feature,LOL.Finally most of the times,if your player doesn't fall, the referee won't give a foul.Damn, this thing isn't happening even in the English league.

So keep and admire this new version of PES.IMO it's going down down down down.......Oh and please save the comments <<You don't know how to play>> for yourselves.I've shown and before and can share and now some replays to admire the great PES5 with the laggy control and all the problems i'm stating. And by the end of the year there will be even more people saying that PES5 sucks. And by the time PES6 arrives, everyone (including the ones claiming PES5 to be a true simulation) will be saying that PES5 sucked. So enjoy it while you can :boohoo:

PS:Sure Fifa is RUBBISH BUT this doesn't make PES the best soccer game ever created. Also the past 2-3 years we get the same game WITH THE SAME BUGS.It's a little bit tweaked and nothing more. And i fear that PES6 will have beautiful graphics but will have exactly the same bugs with PES5 (like the manual mode bug,or the super cancel trick we all know). And thank god there will be a new Sensible Soccer.I just hope they don't f**k up this game too.
