All places are seated, unlike in the past and in regular league games. If anything happened more space would help a lot.Hearts_FC said:Erm I think the concern is more to do with the actual severe crushing followed by death of dozens of people rather than an actual stampede. 60000 people with a clear run onto the pitch is less of a problem than them sardined against steel fencing. Look up Hillsbrough Disaster for an idea.
It's kinda hard to inspect stadiums before they're built, isn't it.Always thought that their stadiums were dodgy as hell. Why were they not inspected before giving them the WC?
Fifa should have a better knowledge about stadiums than a consumer group and as long as they say the stadiums are safe there's no reason to think differently.
Yeah, there's a big potential for these clashes between hooligans to happen again. The police has to do a tough work here to separate German, Dutch, English, Croatian and Serbian hooligans.Shiryu said:I can't find the source, but I also read a report on Worlds-Cups, that specified that "Hooligans" where a much greater cause of deaths and injuries during World-Cups than anything else.
With the way this World-Cup will be hosted, I would worry alot more about clashes between hooligans, rather than minor stadium problems.
Anyone remember France 98?
Thank god Turkey won't be there.
