look here, after they've lost the semi-final against italy, the germans start to link sports with politics and economy...or should i say they want to start a trade war?
here are links to some german webpages who call for a boycott of pizza or any other italian food:

i don't think a country is a good world-cup host, when its people can not admit that the opponent has deserved the win and start to blame fifa or the italian media for their loss.

pfff ... those are maybe 10 persons who initiated that "Pizza Boycott" ... 10 persons out of 80 millions ... -_-

At the moment here in Germany there's a trend that for every little incident there has to be some reaction (initiated by single people, who know exactly how they can find other stupid people agreeing with them and spreading this thing then) ... which will be spead through the Internet mostly. But this has nothing to do with a complete nation ... those things happen in every countries (do you remember those orange "Wehrmacht"-helmets which were sold in the Netherlands before 2006 Worldcup? It's exactly like that ... I don't think the majority of the Dutch men would have liked that).

And you shouldn't forget that many of those things are really harmless ... they are just side effects of the rivalry of two teams ... not in a hostile, but in a friendly way. This just belongs to that ... :>

But please don't take things like above to judge if Germany has been a good host ... I think they have been, at least from my view in Germany here, it has been an amazing, big, friendly, peacefully party with people from all over the world ... and this is what I will remember mostly. Why can't it be like that on every part of the world ... :(

I was at the World Cup, saw 1 game in Dortmund and about 8 on the Fan-fests - it was brilliant.
Appart from the quality of football it was a big success IMO

Friendly Host People & Police & Fans
Cheaper Food/Drink than in lots of other places I've been
Fantastic Atmosphere in the Cities, not only at the brilliant Fanfests
Organisation & Transport was top aswell

Exactly like that all World Cups/Euros should be!

btw appart from a few idiots who put footballs, which were filled with beton (congrete?!) on the street and had written "kick me" on it - it was all percect!

if you think that because of those few things Germany is not a good host, i guess there's never been a good host in world cup history...

The guys who did this were "artists" from Austria btw.

Another proof that all the bad things Germany is blamed for comes from there. :(

I went to England Vs. T&T - Was a great event, well run if a little corporate for my liking.

The ONLY thing that I would say made the hosting negative in any way was the SAME MUSIC being played as the teams come out. It was grating on me after the second game of the tournament, I literally had to change channels a few times to block it out. Sounds like a 6 year old has composed it on a keyboard. Terrible!

Fantastic hosts. Agree with all Ben Beckham said. I was in Frankfurt and the vibe was incredible. I watched a couple of games also on the big screens, joined by real fans from all over the world. It was a party.

Fifa did their best to ruin things with their "control freak" antics, but Germany should be proud of their achievement.....10/10 for me (Y)

They've been a great host country....just the on-the-field product has been subpar!

The only bad thing to happen to the World Cup is if South Africa can't stage a show as great as Germany have (with its fan parks etc..) Which is more than likely. :(

Most of the people who visited Germany have nothing but praise about how the Germans have put this tournament together. Not just for the impeccable organisation, and the huge variety of non-footballing activities for the fans and tourists alike. But also for the admirable way that the locals have embraced most of the visiting teams, it was great seeing the Germans waving Angolan, Togolese, and Trinidadian flags, among others, and chanting a few words in those foreign languages, and they got to learn alot about the cuisine and history of those countries.
