Alcoholism is an illness, as he said "Remember me for the football". The man was a flawed genius in the same bracket as Maradona, both of which were surrounded by bad influences and didn't have the guidance their talent required. Every single quote you'll read about Georgie will state how much of a gentleman he was, the man was class which was summed up when he offered his healthy organs as a donor.

You can't say he was "nothing but a drunk" because clearly he was one of the finest players to grace the game. I have no doubt that he would be the best player in world football if he was around today. Just watch this, the way he dribbles on those pitches, with those footballs and with those tackles flying in, imagine what he could do in the modern game.
