Gates Interested in Nintendo
Will the big N ever consider a proposal?
August 04, 2004 - Bill Gates is still very much interested in purchasing Nintendo, according to German financial magazine WirtschaftsWoche. The publication quotes gates as saying, "if Hiroshi Yamauchi phones me, I will pick up at once."
Granted, that can mean a great many things. But Gates went on to say that if Yamauchi expressed interest he would present Nintendo's former president (and largest shareholder) with an offer immediately. This wouldn't be the first time Gates has publicly announced his desire to acquire Nintendo, which retains its status as the most successful business in the games industry.
Gates courted both Nintendo and Sega just before announcing its entry in the console market two years ago. In fact, the decision to launch the Xbox may stem from Microsoft's inability to buy either Nintendo or Sega. But will Yamauchi ever consider? Will a union between Nintendo and Microsoft ever occur?
Considering Nintendo's position, it seems unlikely. We'll keep you posted on all the latest buzz.

I hope he doesnt buy Nintendo. I can't imagine Mario, Zelda and Metroid on a MS console like Xbox and even on PC!
