Played it to death and I'm afraid it doesn't really do anything for me
Me and MJ (MJ FOOTBALL ©) have tested it and tested it and I don't think that it's a big enough leap from 06 at THIS stage of the competition to give this game an above 80% score. FIFA 04-5 should've been playing the way 07 is now and thank god Joe Booth is on the scene to produce something that is actually quite fun, although the sad part is the most fun we had was in a penalty shoot-out after the game ended 3-3 and we was really wanting the referee to blow the 90min whistle...now that isn't right.
Attacking in 07 is too easy, passing is too accurate and easy, the assistance on the passing causes the game (between two good players') to become rather end-to-end rather than build up, pace, take your time and strategise your movements and formations. Instead, it is rather 'run with a fast player' tactic and score. The shooting system is improved, but still too easy to hit the target with players' such as Ronaldinho, Rooney...you know the sort.
Now, now don't hate me. There is something about FIFA 07 that feels just right! But me and Mike cannot put our fingers on it. But again, something about the game feels very wrong and we put that down to the same game-engine.
The responsivness of 07 is improved, but next-gen will be by far better. At least it looks better. I was unable to perform some easy first-time shots because the player decided that the animation he was performing looked too nice to stop haha (this is fixed in next-gen)
07 is an enjoyable game, but it is plauged by the same old game-engine and the 'seen it all before' FIFA curse.
This is a step in the right direction and a step up and certainly closed the gap from PES, as again...that is a game that is also over-rated in my opinion.
Hmmm maybe I am being harsh, very harsh...but EA needed to be making a game like this 4 years ago, not now...
My scores;
Gameplay; 70%
graphics; 85%
Overall presentation; 90% (great menu system as always)
Sound; 90% - Awesome sound!
Overall; 77% - the game is above average easily, but the current game-engine shows through so much that it's is too much 'pick up and play' rather than getting used to an all-new experience. Hopefully, the 360 version will sort out what the CG lacks and cannot perform.
Take care guys.
